I found something

If you press a hotbar key (1-9) and click on a block at the same time, that block gets put in your hotbar. Was this just newly added or has this been in the game forever and I just didn't know...
Also I tried doing this with blocks I didn't have and it didn't work.

Actually, it is new.  If you click on a block in the game itself (not in the block menu), and then press a number, it will put it in the quick bar.

I read that but I thought this was something else.
