A while ago I remember people hosted grid collaborations where each user contributing got an area they could build something in, and each area linked together to create a cohesive and playable world. I forget if I made anything for any of them, but I loved the concept and I've always wanted to do something similar. So here's where I introduce to you:

Controlled Chaos Collaboration!

Here's how it's going to work. Each user who's signed up will have up to an hour. When somebody works on the world, they can't again for 4 days. (So if you go on Monday, you won't be able to go again until Friday). This will go on until most people think it's finished; there's no definite system for the end.

To sign up, post in this thread explicitly saying that you are interested. (or if you see me around you can just tell me then)

The day in parentheses is the next day that the contributor can take another turn.

Rules:

• Don't just remove what other people made; improve it or expand on it.

• You don't have to work the full hour. You can work for just a few minutes if you really want to, but that counts as a turn spent.

• Edit productively. "Trolling" is not acceptable.

• People can join and play the world while somebody is editing.

• You can sign up while the world is in progress.

• If you're done editing before your time has run out, notify me.

• No bot/tool assistance

• No sprite art

• Use your own judgement when editing. If you think it's not going to be allowed, don't do it.

• As this is highly experimental, the rules are subject to change at any time.

The end goal is for this to be a playable world with a beginning and end and everything in between.

The most reliable way to find me to take your turn is by finding me on IRC, where I go by "towwl"

The World - Code when people aren't building: yesterday

A while ago I remember people hosted grid collaborations where each user contributing got an area they could build something in, and each area linked together to create a cohesive and playable world. I forget if I made anything for any of them, but I loved the concept and I've always wanted to do something similar. So here's where I introduce to you:

Controlled Chaos Collaboration!

Here's how it's going to work. Each user who's signed up will have 30 minutes to work on the world, then the next user will get a turn to build. After after most people have gone once, everybody will get to go again. The world will be finished once it is fully playable, a full rotation was completed, and most people agree that the world should be done.

Rules:

• Be respectful to others' work.

• Edit productively.

• Leave the owner blocks alone.

• People can join and play the world while somebody is editing.

• You can sign up while the world is in progress.

• If you're done editing before your time has run out, notify me so the next person can go.

• No bot/tool assistance

• No writing

• No sprite art

• Use your own judgement when editing. If you think it's not going to be allowed, don't do it.

• As this is highly experimental, the rules are subject to change at any time.

How to go:

1. Join the world.

2. If I'm in the world, the code is yesterday.

3. Use the code to coin me, tell me you're ready.

4. I'll /loadlevel, change the code, and give you edit.

Rotation system:
A new rotation will go by if one of these two criteria are met:

• 80% of participants (rounded down) have gone

• 1 week has gone by.

To count towards the %, you need to be an active participant. If you haven't gone for 2 rotations, you will be considered inactive. Inactive people will still be on the roster and will be able to go at any time, they just won't count towards the 80%. Newcomers also do not count towards the %.

Any feedback on the rules is more than welcome.

• Promise to me with a cherry on top that you read and understood the rules

For this collaboration I, personally, won't be adding anything at all. I'll just change the coin doors at the end to the number of coins created. That means no portals/spikes/checkpoints/gates or anything. It's all up to you guys.

I prefer this rotation system that you've come up with than the previously used grid systems.

Just out of curiosity, when will we begin? Is there a certain amount of people you want to sign up first or something similar?

We're going to start it right now, actually.

Here's how the ordering system is going to work:

I'm going to idle in the collab world (http://everybodyedits.com/games/PWwara1JIib0I). The code in the world while I'm idling is "ayylmao". If you're ready to go, coin me or something so you can start building. I'm going to change the code and /loadlevel before giving you edit, so don't start building until edit has been granted. You can start sketching before I grant edit, but it won't be saved. I'll set my timer to 20 minutes and then let you have at it. After the 20 minutes is up, even if you're right in the middle of doing something I'm going to /removeedit. Once everybody has gone once I'll reset the rotation and everybody can go again. I'll be tracking who's gone in the OP.

Also, I added the rule "No bot/tool assistance". I'll help with filling things in.

Don't forget: You can still sign up while the world is in progress! Newcomers will just be added to the next rotation.

EDIT: Made the time 30 minutes. 20 was too short.

I'm in it for the long run. It might be several months, but nobody has to stick around for that long.

Also I'm now going to be implementing a new rotation system.

A new rotation will go by if one of these two criteria are met:
