Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Official rules discussion topic

Discuss rules and any changes you want to make to them here. The rules we have now are more or less placeholder rules.

No flaming, no harassing, no sharing personal information of others, no sharing of passwords/emails of others, no spamming, do not be rude, do not post anything racist or sexual, do not post anything sexually suggestive, follow laws

Re: Official rules discussion topic

You could make the rules page more pretty, for starters.

Also, what's wrong with quoting the first post? I mean, of course it would be stupid to quote it in full, but sometimes it's useful to quote a part of it if you need clarification. For example:

Like Buzzerbee said, make the rules page pretty to the newbies, like what it means and what are you punishments, for me it's just a bunch of unexplained sentences.

Something like this:

Do's:
a1: Respect everyone: Respect all members, admins, moderators blah blah blah in this forum.
...

Don't do's:
b1: Flaming: Directly or indirectly offending other players blah blah blah. This can lead in a warning blah blah blah.
...

You may's:
c1: Double post: If there's something important to say blah blah blah.
...

Understand?

It was a list of D55, not you.  Of course it's not going to be a random list of rules.  Come on, Creature, think outside the box.

also should be in there that they can be changed whenever, and that rule breaking will be determined by the admins discretion (flaming, harassment, etc.)

GET REKT M9

Seriously though, I agree with creature. It's not confusing in the way it is worded, it's just that not everyone will understand the kind of language that is used. For example, not everyone knows what minimodding is. Same for raiding, DDOSing, swatting, doxxing, phishing, flaming, cybering, etc. There needs to be some kind of explanation, at least for some of these. This is a forum for a kid's game, after all - the users might not be used to seeing these terms.

Re: Official rules discussion topic

Zoey2070 and I have put our minds together to create these rules:

FORUM RULES

By using these forums, you agree to abide by these rules (and any future variants) and acknowledge that administrators and moderators reserve the right to issue warnings and ban users for not following these rules, or for no reason at all.
Note, the rules are subject to change at any time without any notice.

  • Post content should be of substance; remember: quality over quantity.

  • Leave the moderation to those with authority, it is not the job of the forum users to "mini-mod" each other. Abusing the report system makes it hard for others to do their job efficiently.

  • Be who you say you are; do not impersonate others.

  • Keep content appropriate for underage users.

  • Be nice to people; be courteous to other users.be courteous to other users, and avoid swearing and sexual content.

  • Post in the appropriate sub-forum and follow each sub-forum's individual rules.

  • Type in a coherent manner and always speak in the language of the original post.

  • Get administrative permission prior to creating an account on a device with your same IP address.

  • Gravedigging, double-posting, and quoting the original post should only be done when necessary.

  • Only post legal content, and follow standard copyright laws when posting art and media you don't own.

  • Keep images in your signature and posts a decent size. Signatures should not exceed 300 pixels in height.

Remember, these rules are standard guidelines, and while not everything is covered, you should use common sense and think before you post.

BuzzerBee wrote:

FORUM RULES

By using these forums, you agree you will obey these rules and moderators can ban you if you don't. These rules can change suddenly, so be alert!

  • Make your posts FABULOUS! No one wants to type in tl;dr in your topic! Remember: Quality over Quantity.

  • Mods moderate. Members do not moderate. You can report, but leave the moderating to the moderators. This is to keep moderator moderating in moderation.

  • You are yourself. Don't be someone else.

  • Make your posts PG! Some people aren't 13 yet to be seeing those posts!

  • Pretend you're in a 5-star dining restaurant. That's how you should behave in these forums.

  • Post in the appropriate sub-forum; don't post "Count to 1000!" in General Discussion. That belongs in Forum Games.

  • Type the best you can. If you no Engrish, use Google Translate.

  • PM an administrator if you want to make another account with the same IP Address as you.

  • Don't post in topics that are over 3 months old! Please!

  • Don't post copyrighted stuff. We don't want to be sued because we barely earn a decent amount of money //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/smile

  • Your lovely sigs and avatars should be kept at minimum size! And what I mean by "minimum" is under 300 pixels wide and 300 pixels tall! A bad signature is a 1080x1080 picture of a banana. A good signature is a 200x300 picture of a banana. I like bananas.

Hey, we spent an hour making these rules. Please respect them. Remember to use your logical reasoning while posting; don't be talking about dolphins in a topic about banana chips. Hope you enjoy the forums!

Do you like it?

Are they really, though? Five years ago maybe. I dunno about now.

I think, like others have said already, the rules just need to be a bit more organized and have some explanation/description of the offenses. The whole run-on thing (e.g. like 4) also needs to be made into sentence that flows better.

I think they're actually pretty great. Particularly, "moderators moderate. members do not moderate." Pretty straightforward and to the point.

If rules are to be taken seriously they should have a higher degree of seriousness than that previously posted by Pingohits, humour is acceptable although jokes such as the banana reference are not.
