So this semester in college I am taking creative writing, and part of my course requires I make daily journals/writings. It doesn't have to be anything important in particular just anything we feel like wring about. So without further ado I will introduce my short story, The Rise of The Shoe.

So interesting development today? seems that Benjaminsen has added a new moderator to the game? MrShoe? huh? Well I guess won?t hurt to have a new moderator. More moderators equals more updates, and I guess that?s what?s trending these days.

Coin Gates? Not bad, Perhaps this will be the next RPG2K?eh? ok probably not but still? at least we got some new updates I guess? I presume the following week will be more block packs, but I mean come on? how could it get any worse?

CAAAAAAAAAKE! *om nom nom* ? wait a minute I don?t like cake? And what?s this? oh no! I?ve turned into a monster! A horribly ugly monster?. Oh wait? changing into an ugly smiley for eating a disgusting cake is an update? Ok?. A bit strange but ok? Seriously though the Shoe could have at least made some more original smileys rather than just copying and pasting party hats on the old ones.

I guess I shouldn?t be surprised, but still. I worry about the quality of this game. Whatever happened to community interaction :/

He may be only 2 months old as a moderator, but I have yet to see him, what is really going on behind closed doors? perhaps MrShoe is a real Shoe? What kind of shoe would he be though? Sneakers? Pumps? High Heels? No? I know what kind of shoe he is.

The itchy sweaty kind of shoe, that kind of shoe that?s shown on TV all the time. Customizable, looks real nice, but deep down it?s a death trap in disguise, because once you put it on you realize it?s not anything like you expected it would be. Obviously, MrShoe is a pair of Crocs.

A pair of Crocs is now running EE.

It all makes sense now.

So MrCrocs has released potions. A cool new additional feature that give you extra super AMAZING GOD MODE AURA!!!

WILL HIS EVIL KNOW NO END!!!.... oh wait? this is actually pretty cool?

Not very Everybody Edits style, but interesting to say the least? has this pair of shoes finally seen the light? Has the moldy foot of asininity been replaced by the shiny clean foot of righteousness?!

Ok probably not but still... one can dream right? Perhaps I will send MrCrocs a can of foot odor remover and see if he takes a hint?

WOOT IN THE WORLD???!?!!!?!

A system for voting levels up and down? interesting? wait? you can only vote up? Well that?s hardly fair. What if I dis-like a level! I should be able to down woot!

For the love of Alternia?.

*takes dramatic moment to pause*

Leaves very angry note on the blog:

?Mr Shoe I just want to say this,
The system is great, but there might be a problem. See when you release woots to non-beta, people will be able to abuse them like crazy. Think about it, if you get 5 woots per every account you make, and say someone had enough time, they could make a ton of alts just to add woots to their level to boost it up in the lobby.
Second of all, I realize woots are meant to support playing of levels, but again say one person makes a bad level (like box minis) all they have to do to bomb it is just get all their friends to give them woots. Not necessarily because the level is good, but because they are all friends.
Third of all I realize the system of Woots is supposed to prevent the abuse of Guest Bombing, but I think it?s a bad idea. Just because, say for example MG Crew makes a really great level. Then they want to share it by guest bombing it in the lobby, well now they can?t because they need woots to bomb their level. And how are they supposed to get woots if no one comes, because the level is so low in the lobby?
I understand why you implemented the system, but I personally do not like it at all. It leaves to much room for people who are biased, and it dis-allows crews to quickly openly share their levels. Now people will have to fight for every last woot just to get a good spot in the lobby.
I think the placement of levels in the lobby should be determined by the amount of people in the level, and the woots should be used as more of a device for ranking levels. For example, if you are looking for a nice level in the lobby you could perhaps judge how good it is based on how people rank it, that way it makes for easier finding of good levels.
I hope some of these suggestions are helpful to you.?

I do not think the woots system is ?unfair? compared to the old system.
I agree that there should be better ways for players to find great worlds. But I think we both agree that the creator of a world should not be the one who gets to decide if it is a great world. And it is way harder to woot-bomb a world than it is guest-bombing it.
But as mentioned above, the next step is to sort worlds in more ways, and to make good worlds easier to find. That is the goal. This is the first step: Letting the users vote on the worlds that they like.

Did he even read my post? at all? Gah?. What part did he not understand? Maybe woot bombing IS harder, but with this ridiculous new system what starts at the top stays at the top. It doesn?t matter how hard you try there is just no working your way into the lobby.

MrCrocs has now basically created an EE dictatorship. While those who were lucky enough to get their level bombed to the top sit on their thrones, the rest of use must suffer below in mediocrity as we go on getting ignored by day by day.
What is this game coming too? Whatever happened to just having fun? Why add a purpose to a purposeless game?

*speaks in an old man accent*

Lemme? tell you somethin? der? all ye? newbies?. Back in my days when I played EE it wasn?t bout? havin? all da? stuff, or winnin? all da? levels. It was bout? havin? good harmless fun wit? all ur? friends.

Week by week the game becomes more convoluted, and even more ludicrous. Is this some sort of ridicule? Am I being pranked?

I wonder if MrCrocs has tied Chris up with a giant shoelace, and has now taken over the game. Considering he does seem to make all the blog posts, and considering he appears to be the only active mod it would make sense.

I can imagine Benjaminsen coming to work one fair morning, when as soon as he enters his place of business he is mauled by a giant, repulsive pair of Crocs. The Crocs laugh manically as carry out their evil plan.

One Croc remains on Benjaminsen, while the other Croc grows eight arms and begins to eject a silk like thread like a spider. It would then weave a shoelace of epic proportions and slowly wrap it around Benjaminsen like it was tying a shoe.

It would be the perfect crime? and who would know? Surely not us ignorant players. Of course not, because why would MrShoe ever consider doing anything stupid?. Oh wait?

Stupid Crocs. I?ve always hated you. I kept trying because I felt like we could do something great. I gave you so many chances, I tried again and again, but in the end I knew it was never going to work out between us.

OKAY MRCROCS I?VE HAD IT! YOU COME OUT OF NOWHERE, CASUALLY INSERT SOME HORRIBLE GRAPHICS INTO A ONCE LOVELY GAME, YOU MAKE A BIASED AND CORRUPT SYSTEM OF VOTING, YOU TAKE AWAY MY MAGIC COINS, AND NOW YOU ARE MAKING IT SO EVERY PLAYER CAN GET ALL OF OUR PRECIOUS ITEMS WITH THE CLICK OF A BUTTON???!!!!!11!!!!! Ok maybe that was a little over the top? Eh? I see people raging about Builders Club, and I?m like seriously? What do you expect? besides is it not a good thing to share the blocks? If it helps people make good levels than what?s the problem?

What?s this $30 for 3 months? Ok? guess I?m not buying Builders Club? for a feature so nice it sure is   rip-off. Again though I suppose I?m not surprised, it seems all the decision in Everybody Edits lately are based off of what would make the most business sense.

I wonder what MrCrocs does with all the money, seeing as how Benjaminsen is a little ?tied up? at the moment. He must be buying lots of foot odor remover, or at least one would hope. The scent of Shoe still lingers in the lobby, the horrible scent of mediocrity.

Ok. Breathe faily? breathe? it?s ok. Your level 11 you have all your smileys. I knew MrCrocs was evil, but my goodness. It seems he outstayed his welcome, and I believe it is now time for EE to get a new pair of Shoes? err?. Maybe not shoes? perhaps a friendlier article of clothing, one that doesn?t stink up the community of which I once loved, one that doesn?t step all over the populace which helped to bring it to power to begin with, one that does not shatter an already broken community.

For three years I have been playing this game. For three years I have seen this game change, from a simple endless sandbox of fun as it blossomed and flowered into one of the most amazing online communities I have ever had the chance to have been a part of.   And now what has it become? MrShoe has stomped on our garden, pulled out the roots of   our community, and changed our dear game of Everybody Edits which is now only a distant memory.

I don?t know what game this it is that these people are playing, but it is not Everybody Edits. This is NOT what I signed up for and though I try to make a change no one listens? no one cares? I?ve been silenced? I am unimportant? purposeless? meaningless?. I am nothing more than a product on the gaming market...

I soon worry that I will leave all together, like the rest I must migrate onto something new, something small. I must once again integrate into a smaller society and work my way to the top, but what if said society becomes like EE too? Could this entire game be some sort of secret metaphor for life? Perhaps?. Either way things are not looking to bright. My light bulb of happiness is flickering away, becoming more dim by the day. Soon it will go out, and this game will have nothing more to offer me except the memories that I once had.

Wow. This...this blew my mind...

The sheer awesomeness of the story blended perfectly with the epic, grand music playing as I read the cries of a thousand players. Too bad by the time I got to the last date the music ended. I had to rewind it so I could hear a bit more that would last to the end.

Wow I'm glad you liked it haha... I was trying to combine both bits of my own opinion as well as with parts of the community as well. I also recently read a part in my textbook about using imagery to help convey a message idea, and how certain kinds of words contain more sensual power than others.

So I thought, why not make an EE fan fic? I've been meaning too for a long time. I will probably write more in the future as well.

Ah heh... sorry about the music... I really wanted to put a Homestuck track because I've been pretty obsessed lately, and that was the longest one I could find that actually suited the piece.

Well the past couple of updates haven't really been THAT horrible compared to some of the other updates, and well I don't think much is gonna change in the following year. I'm sure the game will get stricter, people will stop playing, then Chris will either see the light and radically change the game, or it will die. Probably the latter though.
