The Town of Rivertide

This is the story of a little town in the countryside, that grows into something much larger.

This is just the very beginning, and the pace will likely pick up. So keep following it!

Week 1

This is Rivertide, where I live. Unlike its name, the town is actually rather dry. I live alone - my house is the only one around here - but somehow I've been able to survive off of the town a mile away, Aeroaltus. Today I decided to stay home and enjoy my own company. I have a feeling that something big is going to happen here, though. At least, I hope so.

@Arceus64: I would say not. He's a pretty solitary guy and not too social. He also goes into the city every so often, so he's still seeing people.

Here's a backstory:

Long ago, Rivertide enjoyed a tropical climate and much fresh water; but then, the Glaer family struck coal and became a tycoon. Due to the fumes created by it, the sun was blocked out and the area became barren with little flora and fauna. Each citizen decided to go their separate ways and the Glaer company became one of the largest commercial superpowers in modern history.

Recently, a man named James decided to move to the now empty land. He's a loner and prefers his own company, and since the resources of Aeroaltus are close nearby, he saw this as a good opportunity. This story starts about a month after he's moved.

Week 2

It seems I was right. Some surveyors popped up a few days ago and now a house is being built. All I'm hoping for is that they mind their own business, but I'll admit this place can use a bit of urbanization.</span>

More interesting stuff should be coming after the new house is finished.

Week 3

I met the guy moving in a few days ago. His name was Matthew, and he was moving from Robinest, which is about ten provinces away. It shows. I couldn't understand a word he said. He actually seemed rather sketchy, and as a matter of fact, I'm building a fence.</span> (Like I should have about two months ago.)

He's working on his plumbing. As I recall, it's a tedious job; it took me at least two weeks to set mine up and it's not entirely solid. But it looks like Matt's got a professional team, so his pipes should work flawlessly. Good for him.

Are we supposed to guess what happens next?
Guide the characters?
Just listen to the story?
Actually do something?

That small fence is gonna take less than a hop to get across. If Matthew is some sort of pyschotic killer, Janes is going to have to try a little harder for security.

@tak4n: This is mostly just a story with visual aid, but you can move into the town or dedicate a building for yourself, I guess.

@Arceus64: Woah, woah, woah, no. He's not a killer. James just doesn't want Matt to bother him, so he put up a fence.

Week 4

Matt just finished his house up, and in a few days he should be moving his stuff in. The grass is already regrowing, and it seems he planted grass over the pipe to cover it up. He's also got a nice cement driveway. Good for him.

In the meantime, my fence has been finished, and since I've gotten fed up with driving back and forth between Aeroaltus, I've decided to start a garden. Not that I'm the type of person to spend my time doing that crap or anything...

@Bimps: This is not an interactive story. It's more like a blog, I guess. So, um, no, you can't bomb the place.

I'm incredibly sorry guys, my main computer is not working, so I'm only able to use my laptop which doesn't contain the Rivertide files. I promise as soon as I'm able to get back on my main computer that I'll update more.
