Lately I've posted a post with the word gay in it saying "this update is gay". Whats wrong with the word gay, I got 2 minus reps for it? Is it that they hate gay people or they just think that only hetero people are the good onces?

I personally don't have anything against gay people and you shouldn't too. So you shouldn't minus rep someone when he/she uses the word gay in his/her opinion.

I find it nonsense that someone minus reps you for saying the word gay in a different content then "gay fish" or "gay parade".

What do you think?

I have nothing Against gay people,but some people might be offended because you used the Word "Gay" As something bad. Because the update was bad,you sead the update was gay.

That's true.

If you want to say something is homosexual, say homosexual. Or just say something that means bad, because still homosexual doesn't fit with that definition.

Nou, that depends if you use it as a noun or adjective. As an adjective it can mean happy, but also homosexuality. It depends on how people use it in the context, which can be interpreted in many ways.

People can be homosexual.
You're using gay in a negative connotation, which is the problem.

To avoid this conflict i just don't even use that word. In modern times people don't read the dictionary to find out what it really means.

Haha, I was just about to say that.

I do kind of cringe whenever I see the word "gay" used in a sentence expressing disappointment/disagreement/etc, but overall it's fine with me. I don't have anything against homosexuality either.

Using 'gay' like how you used it is quite immature in my opinion. Seriously, I rarely hear people say it unless I'm talking to a kid.

I guess it's immature because you're saying gay people are stupid, in a sense.

You're saying, like Supa said, that the object is stupid, lame, or undesirable. Instead of using the words stupid, lame or undesirable you're using the word "gay", which implies that gay people are stupid, lame, or undesirable.

This update is so happy. Makes no sense.

"This update is so gay" That was a positive statement? If it wasn't, what could you replace "gay" with?

I say you feel that way, because if you didn't than you would never be tempted to use it in such context. Why use "gay" as a negative adjective if you think being gay is OK?

I agree with what Zoey and Supadorf are saying - it's not that we hate gay people, it's just that you're using gay as a derogatory term. Using gay as a derogatory term can translate into gay = bad, so naturally people who aren't homophobic would be upset.
