Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

I'm looking for a free screen recorder that records full-screen videos, and hopefully sound. I tried Hypercam, but it had neither of those.

Fraps. It costs $30.00 though.

I use hypercam2 and it records full screen with sound, compressed or uncompressed [various codecs] at any frame rate you choose.

I tried it, as I already said, and the video was silent and recorded only less that 1/4 of my screen.
Have you not got these options?

You don't need to pay $30.00 for Fraps, there is a registered version avialiable for download. For Games, i prefer Beepa Fraps or WeGame, for recording in browser/desktop i usually use Bandicam.
I have Hypercam 3, which, with the right plugin, also records audio. And yes, like all recorders, you have to go to options and select the screen size etc.
Alternatively, the Camtasia Studio 7 recorder I have works very well, also with relatively little lag compared to other recorders. I prefer this one.

Yes, but for some reason, the select region thing only let me record the top left quarter of my screen. I'm not stupid.

hmmm - I'm not suggesting you are stupid - I'm trying to help you figure out what the problem is because it works fine for me. Anyhoo, the select window option should let you choose your whole browser window, or all of your desktop.
