2012 Presidential Election

What, with the forum being down, I've missed out on a grand opportunity to debate about the 2012 election ! ! !

If you're like me, you've heard more than enough of this election. I'm not going to reiterate what the entire country has been hearing for the last month, as much as it pains me.

Instead, I'll just go ahead and ask the community: If you could/will vote, who would you vote for? Why?

--

Oftentimes I find myself asking: Who is the shiniest of two turds in this election?

The curiosity and trusting part of my brain is saying "Romney will fix it, he promised," and the other part that's logical and reasonable is saying "Romney's a lying imbecile, and Obama needs more time for his policies to take effect."

I'm going with the advice Biden gave to me in the VP debate - go with your instincts. I find myself losing track of the big picture when I split hairs over each and every little act each candidate has done and other things the media puts under a microscope. I'm not very well-informed, I grant you that, but in general I see Barack Obama as a trusted leader who is capable of change.

Also, he's not a lying imbecile, so that helps his case a little bit.

Yeah, well, you know that's just like, uh, your opinion, man.

This reference made me read the rest of it, and then I couldn't think of anything to post.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election

I'm not voting for any side Biden's on. He's a moron.

Questions: When did Romney lie? And Obama made the debt a ton worse. If it were going to go down with his policies, the max he has is 4 more years, if the first 4 years wasn't enough to show some positive change, will 8 be enough? The first 4 years the debt went up nearly 5 trillion, more than any other president IIRC.

tl;dr:
When did Romney lie?
Will 4 more years help policies that haven't had any positive effect in the first 4 years?
Why is Biden such an idiot?
Why can't Obama get a different VP?

Re: 2012 Presidential Election

Biden's not a moron, he's just a lovable, bumbling oaf. I remember when he was in SF and the 49ers were going against the NY giants in the game before the Super Bowl. At the end of his speech he said "And the Giants are going to the Super Bowl!" and everyone started booing at him because he got the baseball team mixed up with the football team. XD

Anyway, I'm votin for Obama so that I can cotinue to make jokes about how he can't get the economy back together.

Why would anyone vote for someone called Mitt.

A classic comment.
I took a survey on my political stance a while ago, I ended up Conservative, which would traditionally mean I would be realted to the Republican Party, but I just don't agree with Mitt in a few key statements and I don't think he's going to follow through on his words.

Plus, can someone rebuild a country in just four years? A country that hit rock-bottom in '08? A country with people believing there was no more hope?

Of course not, you need a little more time, I'm with Obama on that.

I am not American, but just from what I have seen the whole thing looks like some big entertainment show. It doesn't make sense to me how people can believe in something like that.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election

Romney, he is the logical choice... Lets look at this.

His JOB, until this point has been business and creating jobs. Ryan is a financial genius.. Imagine what the two could do for our country.

Obama just needs to leave already..

You know what, actually politics are too confusing and full of contradictions anyways, I vote Vermin Supreme. Too bad he never made it past the first round :c

Re: 2012 Presidential Election

Obama may not be the best for America, but he is a hell of alot better than Romney.   Did you guys even watch the debates?   On the last one, Romney was pretty much trying to be Obama, with his policies.   He's like a little kid, he'll say whatever you want him to, he just REALLY wants to be president.

I'm going to be completely honest. It looks like everyone but America sees that Romney is going to be a catastrophe. (Except some of you, you who do are ok)

haHAHAHAHA

Let me tell you how I see this (I would vote for Obama if I could, because I genuinely like him -- not because I'm voting 'against' Romney, it's sort of like my morality scales).

Fast forward to 2012, I know a lot of different people and don't hate anyone because of their opinions or views.

Quite simply.
I know a lot of gay people.
And for someone to say that they support this group of people who have been discriminated against for thousands of years (wow sort of like colored people and look where we are now, it only took us 145 years to get a black president in office not sure if proud of you america), i'm like wow there is not a single doubt in my mind that I want this guy to win and I will kill someone if i have to to make that happen.

And honestly?
Romney is worth 250 million.
He's good at managing private companies and screwing people over.
Don't take it personal.
It's just business.
That's something my history teacher has said so many times, and it's probably seven words Romney takes to heart.
Don't take it personal. It's just business.
Romney also will say whatever it takes to get elected, he's changed his views so many times it's not even funny. he's like a used car salesman.
there's even a site dedicated to it. with sources.

You want to know WHY nothing's changed? PROBABLY BECAUSE THERE'S BEEN A GRIDLOCK IN CONGRESS FOR GOG KNOWS HOW LONG.
It's not like the president says,
'Hey.
I'm the **** president.
I want this to happen.
SO IT SHALL.'

how a bill becomes a law, 101.

1. someone proposes something.
2. it becomes a bill.
3. boring crap
4. it is voted on on the House of Representatives.
5. it goes to the Senate and gets voted on.
If it doesn't pass those 2 places, it can't become a law.
6. it goes to the president's desk.
source

There's a majority of Republicans in the House.
They're pretty much doing their best to make Obama look bad by not passing anything and they're trying to push forward their agenda.

The Republican agenda is not what America needs, considering the few people I know who are/would be voting for Romney is a chick who probably has never been denied a thing in her life and has fvcking acres of land
and a guy on the street of my school whose house I can't even see because he's got so many trees and stuff. I'm not even sure it's a guy. I just saw the sign.

Romney said to borrow money from your parents to go to college.
because that's totally possible, let's not forget that Romney's dad was the CEO of American Motors, so I doubt he's been denied things or had to do.
you know.
hard work.
live paycheck to paycheck.
worry about how you're going to put food on the table.
he spent $45 million of his own money in the presidental campaign of 2008.

He's a businessman.
He's not concerned about the American people.

And D55, so you're not voting for Obama because of his vice president? Vice presidents don't do very much.
If Romney wins, (which is something I highly doubt. Him getting elected will <suck>. I swear to god I will either move to canada or put a gun to my forehead and give a one finger salute as I pull the trigger and splatter brain matter everywhere, hopefully all over a Mitt Romney poster or something.

Also it took me an hour to type all this up, so enjoy it.

Most of the problems that they are arguing over have multiple really easy ways to solve them, it it just that they can't agree on which way to use... so everyone is screwed.

And some people wonder why immigration to Canada appears in my search history so often...

Re: 2012 Presidential Election

By the way, for all the people that aren't from America reading this you might notice all the people threatening to move to Canada. Don't worry, that's just an American tradition that we have in which we threaten to move to Canada if the person we're against wins the election, but we never actually do.
