Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Australia!

I was just curious, what is your view/opinion/etc. of Australia?

I just find it funny when I talk to people, particularly from the US, they legitimately believe that we ride to school on kangaroos etc. 1xd1

Re: Australia!

From what I know of Australia is it has desert style animals a climate like France in the southern coasts and a tropical climate in the north, the mountains at the eastern coast stop sea air from getting in causing the outback.
The roads are a lot like American's style rather than the European style.
That is all I can really say.

Re: Australia!

Well, I have a foreign exchange student in one of my classes (I'm from the U.S.) who is from Australia. All she really has told us is that our dollar is basically worth the same amount and they play rugby unlike our American football. Two years ago when we studied it, I only remember learning about the GBR, its beginning (when the British sailed there with convicts), how camels got there, and Queensland (the only state I remember because it is their 'Sunshine State').

Oh and I think they are part of the United Nations (not quite sure though can someone tell me?)

EDIT: Nevermind, I just Googled a list of the UN nations and they were in it.

Re: Australia!

It's a stereotype to say that Americans stereotype Australians.

So technically YOU'RE the judgmental ones o:

Re: Australia!

My sister is currently travelling in Australia. Shes been there for about 6 months now. It's been really weird without her. At least shes having a great time. They have been surfing a lot and doing some other great stuff. She has encountered sharks. She bought a camper van and has been getting several jobs. She took a trip to New Zealand for sports like snowboarding. She has encountered a Huntsman spider in the camper and ever since that they've been checking their shoe's.

It seems like fun. I want to visit.
And riding kangaroo's to school? WTF. That will never be possible (But it would be fun).

I think Australians are pretty stupid. They think we Americans legitimately think they ride to school on kangaroos!

If you don't understand the irony, then I'm not joking.

Re: Australia!

I was just saying that majority of the Americans that I know are quite ignorant. That was the purpose of me making this topic. I apologise if I offended any of you.
Anyway, we don't have giant spiders. Just saying.

Re: Australia!

Well from a biology view, it's an extremely important part of evolutionary history. And yes, you do have giant spiders just not exeptionally so. The Amazon is where you get all the giant and/or deadly spiders. And please tell me kangaroo jerkey isn't popular there. I tried it once and I had to spit it out. SO SALTY!!!!

Re: Australia!

I've never had kangaroo. Then again I live in the city, not the Outback.

Re: Australia!

All I know about Australia is that there is the Great Barrier Reef, and that when you Australians say Razor Blades, it sounds like "Rights Up Lights."

Tell me this, though, because I really want to know: you guys live in the South Hemisphere, right? That means you celebrate Christmas in the summer (if you celebrate Christmas at all). So, since it's so hot during Christmas, how do Australians view Santa Claus? In the Northern Hemisphere, it's Winter, so it makes sense for Santa to be wearing a coat. But what is he like in Australia?

Re: Australia!

Its pretty much the same here in Oz, but instead of having a Christmas roast or whatever, we have a barbecue

Re: Australia!

Haha, of course you don't ride on the kangaroo! You ride in it's pouch!

Even though I don't know much about Australia, I just view it as I would the US. Seems pretty much the same culturally.
