Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Rubik's Cubes

Has anyone solved a Rubik's Cube? Do you know anything about Rubik's Cubes?   Any speed solvers on these forums?   If so, which method do you use?

Here's a video of my nub solving:

Re: Rubik's Cubes

I have a Rubik's cube. I can struggle my way through 2 layers but the top layer always fails.

Re: Rubik's Cubes

This is how I solve them:
Step 1: Mix it up.
Step 2: remove all the stickers
Step 3: replace the stickers on the right sides
Step 4: Profit

I've had a few of them, messed around with it for fun, and never got the hang of it.

Re: Rubik's Cubes

I had one but I'm easily annoyed, so I just raged and threw it against the wall, I can't put it back together.
But no, no methods and I'm definitely no speed solver.

Yep. Solved the 2x2 through 7x7. I also got a couple of miscellaneous twisty puzzles like the rex cube and the impossiball. My record on the 3x3 is 41 seconds.

Re: Rubik's Cubes

im gonna have to say that that video is fake. if you can do it that fast then your on par with the record holders. i can solve one but it usually takes me 1-2 minutes. the world record is about 5 seconds, and i think he did a reverse scramble or something. compare how the world record holder turns it with how the op turns it. there are specific ways to scramble where you can have a fast solve, so give a real video of you solving it.

It might be legit, but I do agree that it looks fake. I'm 75% sure it's a reverse scramble, but there's a chance it isn't.

Ugh it took me hours the only time I've ever completed one-- and that was with help. One of my friends can solve them insanely fast, and so of course I switched two of the blocks just to watch him squirm.

Re: Rubik's Cubes

I've only completed a Rubik's cube once by accident. I've been able to get stuff like the Rubik's Magic and Rubik's 360 done fairly easily by comparison.

I'm nowhere near par with the record holders. 5.55 seconds =/= 12 seconds.   This scramble was easy and lucky, if you solve with CFOP (popular method) you will see for yourself.

Cross is only three moves, all the F2L pairs are very easy to see and execute, OLL skip (saves 5-10 moves) then an easy A(b) permutation.     These are the reasons why it's lucky.

If you want I will give you a "unlucky" solve of mine.

Re: Rubik's Cubes

I have a Rubix cube where every block must be turned the right way and put in the right place on each side. I would probably be an elder by the time I finish that, if I tried really hard.

Re: Rubik's Cubes

I can easily do one side of the rubix cube and I am proud of myself. Don't feel the need for learning how to do the whole thing.

My brother could solve it in a few minutes. Once I solved 2 layers and that's it.

Re: Rubik's Cubes

Hi there!
I'm a speedcuber and can solve a regular Rubik's Cube (3x3x3) in 8 seconds and a 2x2x2 in 1 second. I have about 70 different cubes (Gigaminx, Pyraminx, Floppy, Megaminx, Mirror, 3x3x9, 7x7x7, 4x4x4, 5x5x5, 6x6x6 etc. etc) and I can solve them all.

On a regular cube I use the Fridrich method (also called CFOP). The Fridrich method is one of the most commonly used methods in speedsolving a 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube. The method works on a layer-by-layer system, first solving a cross on the bottom, continuing to solve the first two layers (F2L), orienting the last layer (OLL), and finally permuting the last layer (PLL).
I use the same method for a 2x2x2 cube.

Every Rubik's cube fits that description.

Re: Rubik's Cubes

My best time on a Rubik's cube was 2 minutes 20 seconds or something using the beginner's method on a Ghost Hand. Though that was the only time I actually timed myself, but I doubt my actual best would be much faster than that.
That was over a year ago though, I completely forgot how to solve it since then. I can only get one side done then I just have no clue what to do next.
