Old Minecraft Buildings

Just found some of my old Minecraft builds, quite fancy.
We started a fresh map with version 1.8.

My chess-board-secret-entrance to the most hidden place and treasures I have found;) It was automated with redstone circuits of course.

The chess board seems nice but also impractical. It would be cool if it were usable.

The second image reminds me of an old world I did with a castle that was in the ocean, right next to an island. Remembering that gives me inspiration for a castle that surrounds an island instead of populates it. That would be really cool.

On an entirely different note, I don't have screenshots, but I made this huge mushroom house once. It was soooo tedious but worth the time. I made several different mushrooms for each room and connected them with bridges. The nether-portal-mushroom was purple and decaying and I was so proud of it.

Shrooms. Sounds nice and I think I have an idea for a future "thingy" to build on our server.
I did never work with the mushroom blocks due to their actual rare availability.

Currently I try to establish a more or less working base along with my wheetfarms etc and intend to visit the Nether in the next few days, getting the alchemy ingrediants I need so hard.
