this is the right topic and nice idea, but it would take up alot of space if there is many people viewing it

yeah, but maybe it could say "ETC...." if there
is three users on that topic.

Hmm... I like this idea, but if too many people were online then maybe there should be some filter in place.

How about if it goes on there is a "more" text and when you click it, it lists the full list?
