a while ago i could click and walk with a whole line of block behind me while editing.
now i have to click for every block, it's quite anoying and very slow.
is this normal now, or something else?

If you are in an unlocked (open) world, this is normal. Only locked worlds and saved worlds allow multiple block placement with one click.
Which kind of world is this happening in?

Maybe higher FPS can solve this problem.
Or maybe fasten your speed of using internet, it works on me.
Jakery said the truth. It happens to me too when im on open worlds or locked worlds I cant build multiple blocks.
In open worlds, it's not a problem, that's how it is. Other than that I have no other idea than to agree with Jakery.
