Animation system
I just wanted to repost takoman02's idea. Except here instead of pictures I have a world. I made it in five minutes and all the little line does is get longer and shorter.

What a well thought out thread.
edit: I'd try putting an up arrow between each pair of portals and see if that smooths and slows the animation.
