Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Please bear in mind, that yet again i am making a basic water tutorial. So like i said in my grass tutorial if you are looking to make more 'advanced' water, i suggest you look at this then build up your own style.Again i made this because i noticed it was on popular demand. So i hope this helps, and that you enjoy.
Ok so to start off you will need to make a ground for your water Like so.
If your wondering how to make grass for the ground then why not take a look at my grass tutorial.
Now its time to make the hole in wich the water will go in, so just create a little bowl shape like so.
Please note however, the shape does not have to be perfect. Infact the more bumpy/lumpy the more natural! (and the background's are just to show you where the water will be.)
Next you will need to add any adjustments to your hole, then fill it with the basic blue.
Not much more to say about that.
Ok so now we are going to mark out the dark parts of the water, and the light parts. The darker bits would obviously be at the bottom, getting lighter towards the top. Like so...
Ok, at this point the water is starting to come together a little.
This next bit is quite hard to explain how to do, but basically add a beta block (or if you dont have beta a light blue glass block) one pixel apart alond the surface of the water. Also do the same with keys at the bottom. Do roughly the same thing as that with the blue gates, or just follow the picture.
If uou still dont understand what to do there, then post a question on this topic clarifiying exactly what you dont understand, and i will try my best to explain.
Now theres not a great deal of change from this picture and the previous one, but the one differance is, that another row of blue basic blocks has been added a pixel apart in the middle. This is just to enhance the shading on the minimap so it looks more naturally blended.
Like so, again if you have a question feel free to ask.
The next bit is a bit more simpler then the previous few steps. Just add crowns under the water.
Now if you notice a part gets to dark then restrict using the crowns if you know what i mean.
Ok another step like i had in my grass tutorial wich you dont actually have to necessarily do to acheive this type of water. But its basically add waves.
Now this really depends on what scenary you have, for example. If its a quite calm place you most likely wont have waves. And also another tip for the waves. Dont make them to close together.
And thats it! Thanks to all who read, and feel free to ask any questions!

If you can do,please do better. Not realy good looking but great tutorial.Thanks.

I didn't mean its bad.? mean if you can, please do better. This is fine too.But whiel you know shading, please upgrade this tut.
Pretty good, but I'm not a fan of cross shading.
I'd rather do water like this: http://beta.everybodyedits.com/games/PWjaQyPnzea0I (note that I just made this quickly)
But, this is nice for beginners.
cool tutorial =p

Thanks, thats the people i was aiming for, and btw nice water (in your world).
Want help with a Basic Fire/Wind Tut? xD Not bad for beginners.
Water is very difficult, and I think you did a good job for a side view. What about a top down view though? reflection makes it quite difficult.
Offline
Like I said in the other tutorial, look at real grass, but this is harder to make.
I think it's pretty good, but why the purple at the bottom, I don't know any lakes having a strange purple glow at the bottom. ;p
But.. it looks like your not aiming for realism, so that's actually fine.
I like this.
Sure it isn't great but he did say basic and this is quite straight forward and Basic, so good job! Not everyone knows how to make water look pretty Some people just draw blue lines ^^
Just what I needed!
Thanks ^_^
