hey,
ok idk if this is good, but i hope it.
My english isnt good, and i dont explain a lot, if you have any questions - ask (:
mhh i thinck its the best if you now start with reading (oh you do it now)!
1.Outlines
First you need to make heavy outlines, like this:
2.Fill it
Then fill it with your chosen main colour.
i chose purple.
3.Shadows
Make Shadows.
The light comes from the right, by meh.
That means - right
I maked the Shadow on the right side of every object brighter.
4.Make the Progressions better
I use a system like this...
XXOO X= Block colour 1
XOXO O= Block colour 2
XXOO
but a bit better.
5.Make beautifuller
use keys or some stuff, to make it beautifuller.

Kingpoultra You can use this tutorial to make ''real'' caves, it isnt that hard to change colours
