Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Do people really complain when a 5 year old AAA game is sold for $5? Or even a game console's price dropping in half after 3-4 years? No, they don't. Why are you complaining about items being marked down after having been in the shop for 3+ years? You'd have to spend many months of perfect energy utilization just to get all the blocks, so nubs need all the help that they can get //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/smile

That's not bot coding.

Just because it's not as low level as you can go doesn't mean it's not programming. I could easily say the same about basically anything in the standard C# libraries. I write programs using only POSIX every day. baby!

"Anniversaire" and "anniversary" are kind of false friends. They do share the definition of being the day of a year in which an event happened in a past year, so it always works English to French, but anniversary doesn't specifically mean "birthday" in English. "Anniversary of my birth" would be correct, but sounds very stilted. "Birthday" is definitely the word you want to use.

I have one brother 4 years older than myself, and a sister 10 years younger than myself.

I thought about birthday, but I tried to use another word because the year isn't the same. And obviously I failed //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/smile

"Birthday: the anniversary of the day on which a person was born, typically treated as an occasion for celebration and the giving of gifts."
You were thinking "date of birth (DOB)" which specifically refers to the exact date/year of birth.

If you just save it as a jpg yourself, then Windows will not convert it. That way you can use a much higher quality jpg as your desktop background. Also, I'm pretty sure Windows will not convert bmp files either, which are lossless though uncompressed.

#12 Re: Bots and Programming » [Help] How do I make a Cooldown Timer? » 2016-10-14 23:08:04

Indeed, you want the second option. Timestamps with millisecond accuracy should suffice for anything game related.

When a button is pressed, simply compare the current time in milliseconds to the time the last bullet was fired for the player. If the difference is greater than your timeout, then fire away.

This is the approach that should be taken for just about anything timing related where you don't need an event fired at regular intervals.

You do need to be somewhat careful though, as a 32 bit integer can only represent an interval of about 49.7 days in milliseconds. If your bot runs for longer than that, you might get some issues if you don't account for overflow. Or... You can use a 64 bit integer, which can represent an interval of up to 584,550,048 years in milliseconds...

#13 Re: Off Topic Discussion » Is black a colour or a shade? » 2016-10-11 01:54:07

Hey forums, Kaslai here.

According to Dictionary.com, color is: "the quality of an object or substance with respect to light reflected by the object, usually determined visually by measurement of hue, saturation, and brightness of the reflected light; saturation or chroma; hue."

Color is just the name we give to the way an object reflects or absorbs color. Total absorption (black) and total reflection (white) are not special cases with regards to this definition; as such, black and white are colors.

But... What exactly is color? Dictionary definition aside, when we refer to color we tend to think of saturated colors; the colors of the rainbow; the effects of individual wavelengths of visual electromagnetic radiation on our retinas. In this case, you could call white the total presence of color, and black the total absence of color, though even our blackest material still reflects some visible light. Wouldn't this mean our blackest blacks are still colors?

Black holes are... black. So black, in fact, that light can't even escape their gravitational pull. They are truly black; the total absence of color. Do we draw the line here? No light bounces off of a black hole into our eyes, so do they have a color? Does it even matter?

Eyes are amazing things. They allow our fleshy lumps called brains to peer out into the world, without which we would have no notion of color. Different forms of electromagnetic radiation wouldn't even matter to us in the first place, as eyes are the only instruments with which we can measure it directly. So... why do we see "visible" light? What makes "visible" light any different from the other wavelengths of EMF that we bathe in on a daily basis? What makes a 400nm wave any different from a 700nm wave?

If we have identical levels of EMF at all wavelengths from 400nm to 700nm, but no other wavelengths, do we really have the color "white?" Many other organisms would claim otherwise (if they could talk, of course). Examples of ultraviolet and infrared sensitivity are present in many organisms throughout the world. Why is it that us humans only see a small band of EMF? Why can't we see the true beauty of so many flowers which seem relatively mundane without UV sensitivity?

Color is just a construct put forth by us humans to describe certain qualities of electromagnetic radiation in a primitive manner. It is a rough measure of EMF's effect on a retina. Whether that effect is total stimulation, or total deprivation, it is still color.

#18 Re: Debates » Time Bubble Paradox » 2016-10-04 01:23:30

There are a few ways to approach this. First, I want to point out that the ball appearing to teleport is the only thing which makes this "impossible" (beyond the whole minute in the future thing).

If the ball absolutely must teleport, then there are some crazy 11th dimension shenanigans going on and I don't have enough letters behind my name to even begin to explain such behavior.

If the ball doesn't have to teleport, then the ball could appear to be rolling inside the bubble a minute before it's thrown in. That way, the timeline is relatively preserved, however this would clearly indicate that we have no free will, as everything is predetermined.

However, we should take this one step further. Physical objects aren't the only things which are governed by the flow of time. Radiation is affected equally, so it would stand to reason that when you throw the ball into the bubble, it appears to those in the bubble a minute before it's thrown in from the outside. However, light must bounce off of the ball, which appears outside the bubble a minute before the ball appears inside the bubble. That means an outside observer would see the light from the ball inside the bubble immediately when it gets thrown in (not before or after) at the location you would expect it to be with a normal trajectory. The ball's trajectory would look totally normal to observers on either side of the bubble's wall.

Essentially, every transition one way through the bubble is canceled out by a transition the other way. Physical object goes in, light radiation comes out. Time wouldn't actually appear to be disjointed, either from the inside or the outside, since any changes in the world state have an inverse change in the observation mechanism used to view the change, effectively resulting in nothing appearing to be out of the ordinary. In fact, we could be surrounded by these time bubbles right now!

When I was creating my second MapleStory character around 2007, I had already decided that names with numbers in them were lame. I wanted a name like "Aslan" from Narnia, and "Aslai" wasn't taken. For the next 5 or so years, I was Aslai.

Then around 2011, I wanted to change my Runescape name to Aslai, but the censors refused to let me use the name, so I mutated it for a while, and I thought Kaslai was a nice mutation of the name. Ever since then, that's what I've been.

I'll probably be Kaslai for the rest of my life, to be honest. I am... THE KAS MAN.
