My max energy was the same, before I went to sleep it was 6. When I got up I noticed there was an update on EE, and I was checking my energy and it's meant to be 200+ or something but I only got 160. So I am guessing it IS negative energy, but still positive MAXIMUM energy.

Maybe it was Chris reverting to a previous time to fix the black block's color, and some sort of energy glitch came with it.

Somehow, it copied some or my portal energy and gave it to spawn points. That means it gave me more energy...

I'm sorry guys, I think Chris stole your energy to give it to me.
