Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Over the past month, i have been unlocking chat on various accounts of others, mostly people i know nothing about...
And now i'm beginning to question of such an act of kindness...
Is it really a good idea to be unlocking chat for these children? What if something goes horribly wrong... What if...
It seems like a good deed at first, but looking into the heart of it... There was a reason chat has parental controls... If they don't exist...
Your thoughts on all this?
I'd say stop doing it. I agree, parental controls are there for a reason. You should only unlock it for people you actually know.

I'll say you should talk with the person before you buy him.
Oh and don't say "hey I'm buying chat. who wants? come and get it".
You should just talk with this person, don't talk about the chat first, so you'll know he is not a chat digger.
Then I think it's okay to buy chat for other people.
How did you do it so far?
Jojatekok unlocked the chat for me,and i am really happy with it. I think that i am not that big of a "Child",i hope people agree with me.
Now a bit more On-topic.
Before unlocking chat for someone, you need to know them, you never know if they will swear or spam. I wouldn't just go unlocking chat for any person.

It varies, if someone says they need chat, i'll semi offer it, but when i'm bored...
"So uh... Anyone know of people who need chat?"
It's worked nicely so far, but i rarely ask or find anyone in need of chat.

Chat is only a tool, it is only as evil or as pure as the person who uses it.

i do! that person is me
I wouldn't do it for anyone else [parental control] but I did do it to CALLOM's account because I know him in person, I would have done it for EPICFISH but he said no, then later on his dad got it for him.
Thank you eleizibeth ^

I already have chat when I have the code in a level. But real chat is much better than my <snip> (No, that want a mod). It takes about 10 seconds to chat about 8 letters
Well, thanks for the feedback, but i'm still not certain where to head or what to do now...
I don't want innocent children killed and cause perfectly good accounts to be banned...
But i want to be help to the community in a unique way...

The problem with Beta is that it actually COSTS MONEY. Chat is pretty much free, except to get it you need a certain payment method. He isn't randomly spending his money on people he doesn't know. It's money that was earned through TIME AND EFFORT.

Why would he give away ten dollars of his own money? He could give away 1,000 chats for that much.
I have only $2.73 left, mind you, and still working on getting it to at least $5.00.
first gamer if you plan on giving stuff away do it only for the people you actually know. No offense but i agree with alot of the other people as well

Nothing would go horribly wrong. If someone abuses the chat that you gave them, they will eventually be banned. If thats the case they knew of the consequences to there actions so thats there own fault.
Ooo man, i've been playing this game for quite some time now. For a few months or so. When i first got into it i was on it for so long. I seem to get quite addicted to the game. Which i'm not sure why, as the games quite simplistic. But i often prefer games like this to 3d games you get on the xbox etc..
I have never seen this game with chat, so i always play levels "on my own" so to speak. It would totally change my perception of the game with chat, and most probably not in a bad way. Will be pretty crazy to suddenly be able to communicate with other players while playing the levels..
So maybe you could help me out? Hint hint
By reading my message you can obviously tell i'm not a immature child.. I'm most definitely not gonna abuse the chat. I would be privileged.
However, that said, i do admit it is kinda against the rules, no? Chris put the parental control up, and your sneaking your way past that problem for other people against the purpose of what he set it up for?
I do admit the parental control is a bit annoying for the people who's parents don't want to use paypal as it might be dodgy (i know it's not) / are old enough etc..
Shouldn't have said that.. now you might not give me, or anyone else, chat now
Ah well, thats my thoughts on the matter.. I waffle on to much

As of today, i am still getting chat, but only upon a request.
*Sigh* What to do what to do...
In my opinion I would only buy chat for people you know and trust. There is a reason for parental control, you shouldn't just give out chat willy nilly.
The problem is that some kids are not quite at the maturity level where they understand the difference between the Internet and real life.
In some instances some kids might give away personal information, unknowing of the consequences. Or they might be using the chat to abuse someone they don't like.
Say for example Person A hates person B. Person B has chat but person A doesn't. So someone buys person A chat, not knowing of the quarrel between person A and B, then all of a sudden person A starts harassing person B, and person B gets mad and starts calling them names back and so on.
I would say for the most part don't do it. Only buy it if you have a legit reason. A legit reason not being "I want chat just to have it." or " I want chat because only pros have chat."
The people that should have chat are the ones who are responsible enough, and mature enough to handle it.

You see, THIS is why i question my actions.
I could just me emotionless and stick to...

But then that would revoke every last thing i've believed in all this time... It'd crush the reason i live to this day.
I am not saying that what you are doing is necessarily a bad thing, I mean just think of the things you can do with a means of communication. You can talk to people you know, you can build levels together, you can share the code with your friends.
Chat can be very beneficial to game play, IF it is used right.
And it really has nothing to do with who's stupid and who's smart. It's more over for a childs protection. If everyone had chat people would swear and cuss left and right, (putting spaces between letters so the words aren't censored.) People would use WPE to spam the chat and/or crash worlds. Some little boy or girl might be tricked out of their account or other personal info.
If we could be assured that every chatter could properly use their chat then we wouldn't have this problem in the first place. I for one enjoy the chat as it makes it easier to talk to others, but does having chat make me evil? Of course not. If you can use it well then chat can be a very wonderful thing.

Heres what I do. DONT say your getting them chat. If you see someone who looks like they might need chat, ask them their age. They won't know your buying them chat (unless they read this) and will answer truthfully. Then, once knowing their age, you can decide without thinking they might be 6 and will get offend if they see a "****" with their name.
Smileyxp: Age has nothing to do with maturity level. You can be 6 years old and be the nicest person in the world. Being younger doesn't correlate with being immature or stupid.

Lots of children are smart enough to fake their age.

I know a 10 year old who's as mature as a 14 year old, and a 14 year old who's as mature as a 10 year old.
Age means nothing toward mental age, but people misjudge too heavily upon physical age.
