Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

People are taking this too seriously

Every day, people are ranting about updates, making lists of who are noobs or not, going crazy about hackers, making bots, and more. Everybody Edits is a simple sandbox game, where you create your own levels, and play others.

Ever heard the saying "It's just a game".

That applies here more than ever.

"It's just a game" only makes people rage.
Then the guy who says it was a game tells them to calm down, making them rage more.

...or so I've experienced, in my life.

Re: People are taking this too seriously

Let people have their fun. If people want to waste their lives let them. Let them wake up one day and realize it's just a game. Let them rant and whine and do whatever.

And even then Everybody Edits may be just a game to some, but to others it's a community. It's a family, a place to relieve stress, a place to have fun, a place to hang out with friends.

Life is how you make it, and if you want your life to be Everybody Edits, go for it.

Everything that Smileyz just listed applies to every online multiplayer game on the planet. There's no specific drama you'd find here that you wouldn't find elsewhere. Trolls will always find ways to ruin everyone else's fun on every game, even if they're in different ways.

To be honest, I hate when people tell me that EE, or anything else for that matter, is just a game. I do know that it is a game, but by saying that you are implying that we should not have any bad feelings about it since it is just a game. Therefore, you are implying that, whatever happens in EE, you should always have good feelings about it. So if an update ruined many of your levels' art and minigames, would you still have good feelings about it? Would you not complain to people, and make it known how badly this update has altered your levels? Yes, this is just a game. A game that many people spend hours on, making beautiful and thorough levels; why shouldn't they be angry if those levels are ruined? It's only natural for the human brain to treat things online the same as it would offline.

Do you really expect people to brighten up and say, "OH YEAH I FORGOT IT WAS A GAME, I'M HAPPY NOW" when you say "it's just a game"?

OOOOOO Ya I'm "it's just a game".. OOO watcha gonna do? Rage MORE???
(this is a rage about a rage, talking about a rage, raging about levels.)

Re: People are taking this too seriously

I am agreeing with Aybah's response, for numerous reasons.
People create art delicately. They do spend time on it.
Implying you cannot backup the minimap, for EE Animator this does seem to be a problem for those who are in comas, cannot press the "save" button and be able to say, "/loadlevel"

I assume those who mention it's a game, and to calm down aren't actually caring about the matter they are partaking in, since, of course, mentioning that it's only a game doesn't improve anything, and provokes the one who is down..

If you take it too seriously, and when your world gets ruined you get mad, then it ruins your mood in real life. Your no different now than all the people who wanted to suicide because they were bullied in school, except now your ruining your mood about some stupid pixels.

And if all day, you think about everybody edits, and sped hours on your level when you could be meeting up with friends or doing something that matters...

Re: People are taking this too seriously

Not everyone thinks it's "just a game."
People put hard work into this game and have every right to be upset when something bad happens. You tell me you just sit in your chair smiling like an idiot when your world gets trolled?

Um, yeah, I'm assuming you have convinced yourself that you're the fire wizard, fighting back against hordes of tongue-zombies? Do you have a little outfit to go with that?

Of course. However, it has become very extreme.

I bet I can name five people who sit in their chairs smiling like idiots when their worlds get trolled. Besides, we have commands for a reason.

Everybody Edits is a simple sandbox game

In sandbox games you can do whatever you want. Let people do what they want.

Re: People are taking this too seriously

Ever heard the saying "It's just a game".

Yes, it's still a game. Does that mean we need to flip off the "emotion" switch in our brain when we play online games?

Imagine EE as a big wall. White, plaster wall. There are thousands of people staring at this wall, and Chris Benjaminsen (and a few other people) are holding a paintbrush and paint palette. He gives paint to everyone.

People will disagree with some of his brushstrokes. People will disagree with other people's brushstrokes. And this is where they say so, on the forums. Fortunately for you, you don't have to listen to those people who disagree. Just do a little thing I call "ignore".

I agree with you Takoman, we do flip an emotion switch when we play games. But we don't need to flip it on for longer than we have to. If your world gets trolled, then go ahead, be mad, I'm not saying thats wrong. I'm saying if you leave the emotion switch on too long, ee takes over your life. All day your wondering "who won the contest" and won't rest until you find out. Or somebody trolls your level, and you get **** off for the rest of the day, or even longer.

This is "just a game", but I'm not saying we can't have fun, just don't go to the extremes.
