Halloween contest feedback thread.

Since there is going to eventually be threads concerning the whole turn out of the contest anyway, I figured, we might as well just have one, like last contest (easter) to prevent spam and reading more threads than there should be.

So results are already out, and quite a few people aren't happy about the choices made, which is pretty natural, since you can't please everyone...
We can also agree, this contest in particular, was a huge &%%**( flop.
Starting with:
The contest system couldn't be made in time because Cyclone was ill. (Not that of a big problem.)
Chris's friends being made judges instead of experienced players.
Then backgrounds were made to have colour, extending the deadline and ruining some people's maps. Some people were not particularly happy about having to redo it again, after it has just been done in time for the original deadline.
Finally when they lock the deadline, it takes a while for it to be judged, knowing the patience of the people in this game, this was obviously a problem too.
Creams randomly change colour, which makes maps ugly, yet again!
Because Chris's friends are lazy or just too busy, RPG has to decide on the results on his own, which is basically a bad idea, since there are so many things you can miss out on when playing on your own.

Basically a lot of things could have been better, and we should just keep suggestions coming, just so hopefully, we can prevent having a huge list and not having the contest be a $£%^&&%%$ flop.

Improvements for the future:
- Do not hire Chris's friends and Co.
- Hire experienced players.
- Don't change anything during the contest... it can wait Chris.
- Please have around 10 judges or so, so they can discuss and reach a better decision.

Don't agree with this. As Benjaminsenn explianed, if he added it afterwards he would have ruined the levels forever (since they are stored somewehre else and not accesible)

Yeah...I'm pretty disappointed with the contest, not because my team failed, our map wasn't overly great, but because of most of the points you mentioned.
I think in the next contest we should have:
1) Experienced judges (Look at easter, took 3x less time and results weren't as disputed).
2) No updates that could harm maps.

I have only one statement, two, actually.

One: Chris should have had NO participation in the judging.

Two: If he had to, AT LEAST pick people who have at least half a clue what E.E. is and the difference between good and bad levels.

Apart from that, good show, everyone, good show...

But you fail to impress some, but at least people WON this time.

I think it's ridiculous that cry kid cry placed 3rd, compare the art to most of the 2nd's and 1st's... and the minis were decent too.

I personally liked the new take on what a fun level is.

Best save that for next contest, even with an extension I highly doubt the EE community knows enough about them (e.g. where they're most useful, what they look like in shades, etc). I also doubt people would even consider replacing their art with a hallow brick. They spent hard time working on their level, to make great art, and it is finished. Children of Pie were the only ones that I saw who had a problem with it.

Time flies. I guess I'm more patient than the rest of you, but either way it's done and over with. I'm sure Chris won't be travelling before he makes a contest again.

I'm sure that when they copied levels over, it saved their appearance. But if it didn't I'm sure they took this into account and judged accordingly.

Treejoe 4 is right about ss haunted caves beina a crappy level I think it shouldn't even place at all and moogie's world has good art but the minis were ok and it was unfinished so I don't think it should've placed. :/

Yea im mad to at how this went

But dont blame rpg, hes under alot of stress, had to judge them all himself BECAUSE chrises lazy ##$ friends never did

I guess its just a lesson learned
