Koya checked the context.

Yep, context can change the meaning of what was said: if there is real aggression before or after then it will be assumed as a threat (we can see what the world is so we can see if the world is a zombie or curse world).
If you say it a few times then it wouldn't be keeping the chat a safe place for all.
Still try and be cautious because if the context cannot be checked or might be misinterpreted/missing then we will have to enact as if it was a threat.

For things like this you cannot shrug it off saying it's banter between you and a friend because other people can see what was said and it affects other people.

Benje and Lruss both do their jobs well, I think I am more visible in-game and other mod's decisions do include me and my actions include them (if I make a mistake it is my mistake still)

Because other people can see it, if it sounds like you are bullying someone else - even if you aren't - then it's not keeping the chat safe; context matters and if I was in the world and I could see it was a joke I would ask you to stop but if someone else reports it then it's a valid report :/

Re: About Koya

The short answer: reports.

The long answer

EE is now experiencing a shift between old veteran players and new players who are mostly kids. I know this because I have seen how much EE can change in just a few months (I took a break from EE for some time).

Kids are kids. They think it is their job to make sure (whoever they think are) troublemakers are in trouble. I know I was an **** like that when I was a bit younger (oh no I said **** so I'm gonna get banned because some random kid got annoyed)

They are also turned on by the slightest stimulus. Combine all this with a free-to-use /report command and someone really active like Koya and you get a gazillion bans.

So what I say is the problem is with (most of) the new players and not with Koya. Koya is, in my opinion, one of the better mods because I don't think anyone would care about EE moderation as much as him.

Note: bans are justified but with a lot of people using /report for everything then instances of breaking the rules are caught more often. A report doesn't always mean a ban.

Thank you for your understanding, I would not blame the person for complaining about their ban because it can isolate them but if people keep complaining then their word holds less meaning; there is one person who gets banned every week for minor things but even showing proof they have no understanding (I try my best) and they take the anger out on me (which if you are going to and there's no stopping you, one on one with me is better than one against everyone).

Re: About Koya

Then again, I wouldn't blame them because bans are always looked at as losses and rather than one's absence from everyone's game, everyone else's absence  from one's game.

The whole "demod" thing exists because of the hatred against Processor which was even though insensible, something which gained ground in the forums. Something like that which was discussed virtually everywhere, and by players who have been playing EE for a long time, gave people ideas. They should not be taken seriously just like the people who wanted to demod Processor.

About the bypassing of filters, can you get banned for mistyping a swear word in a way that it is visible to people with filters on?

I have reported vitalijus for harassing me, and he got banned, i am fine with koya.

Anyway, time to vote. I want him to stay

hummerz5 - keep in mind, strawpoll is unreliable. It's subject to exploitation. Further, no admin or otherwise has expressed an official interest in this poll, so nothing will come of the results. Thanks

It would keep my post count higher than Pingo by saying "word filter evasion" and "swearing at another user" a few times a day.

Though I never saw so much hate toward any other moderator so thats why Im wondering what might be wrong.

Every moderator knows that they will have users who will think negative of them hence not giving them a perfect approval rating. Some may be more seen publicly than others. Although you or some other people might not of seen anything worse, on many games and here as well this surely isn't the worst it has gotten, because it has become the standard..

Zumza wrote:
AnatolyEE wrote:

When someone breaked a rule for the first ban they shall receive warnings, not week bans!

As far as I know, moderators aren't directly in charge of giving ban periods. There is a system which calculates that. I might be wrong, however. Therefor it won't Koya's fault.

Usually there's a system cemented in place that the moderators have to abide by with very rare exceptions. I'm sure if anyone was banned it was under good merit and as you said it wasn't administrations fault. At least it was like that in my experience on other platforms :p

AnatolyEE wrote:

I can't agree on the demode, because they received a ban for something. if they say "It's not me", then they should read Zoey's IGotBanned topic.

There really is no reason to de-mod anyone for doing their job, people are always going to protect their ego and say it wasn't them, but if the evidence is there which it often is, it just makes the mods justification even more verified.

AnatolyEE wrote:

That's also because Koya became moderator, people started reporting more, because they knew earlier, why will i report someone if he will not be banned. Koya became mod, and people report, because they know that Koya is here.

Just like it should be, the report button should be something of use, otherwise what's the point in having it at all? If the reports aren't gone through, of course people are going to stop using it and doubt the administration. It is great to see addition of moderators for more trusted persons to turn to in times they are requested for anything, not only reports.

AnatolyEE wrote:

If the community is good, the game is also great, without taking care of mods, but with a bad community splitted into aristokration mods, and "normal people", all start causing drama.

Think of it.

This ^^. Although it wouldn't make a perfect community that everyone dreams, It will always consist of people going against moderation and game rules. There have already been many examples of that expressed on this forum before in the past and in the present.

maxi123 wrote:

people just got used to poor careless moderatorship and it's unusual for them to see that now rules are being enforced.

I agree with this point too. This past of extreme leniency birthed many people who enjoy to break rules and now that the rules are being enforced all they do is complain everytime they get banned.
they somehow can't abide to rules when they registered years ago and now they have to cause drama to fight against it, which is pretty childish imo.

Zumza wrote:

This topic is about asking opinions about why Koya gets more attention than the other moderators.

I wouldn't say that this is completely accurate. Every new mod is going to get more attention than their predecessors who have been mod for longer. However when those predecessors become mods for the first time don't they get attention in the same exact way? They pretty much do. In any case of a new mod people just want them on their side so they don't get in-trouble. The mods who don't choose sides usually end up to become the more trusted moderators with slightly more backlash from trouble causing users (such as this situation).

Xfrogman43 wrote:

2) He enforces every rule by what it stands for. Swearing: if a player can see it when they have filters on, it breaks the filter
3) He has been here for a long time - a lot of people know who he is before he was mod

And some other stuff I don't know

Trust in the community is a big player in being a moderator. Koya and other moderators approved on the game and the forum are picked for the benefit of the community based on their positive attributes. If any of them were abusing their banning rights, they wouldn't of been promoted in the first place as the staff wouldn't have had that comparable trust in them. All of these points from what I have seen are accurate, so as said earlier I really think anyone who is having a problem at least in this situation are just people that are caught on bad habits from years past.

1448 wrote:

Kids are kids. They think it is their job to make sure (whoever they think are) troublemakers are in trouble

There will always be an outgoing and ingoing flow of players, and as the veterans thin and the newer players rise, they look to the older players to set an example. When they see situations of troublemaking of course the first thing they are going to do is report, especially if it's a veteran or respected player doing it. At one time all new players who joined the game the for the first time followed the rules. It's just that overtime with lack of moderation people who are considered to be veteran players now actually have a higher probability to break the rules because of these bad habits. Which is why all of us see more and more people being punished, regardless of who they are.

In the end I really don't see why any moderator should get in trouble for doing their job well, and for Koya or any other mod, I wouldn't get this to your head, as topics and problem causers essentially are aimed to lower your self-esteem with a mission to prove a fake point that was never true. Their goal is to make you look like someone you are not, and shame on them for even trying to frame a person who is just trying to do good for the benefit of the community as a whole.
