Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Unpopular opinions

What are some opinions that don't seem to be held by many others? Tell us in this topic!

Re: Unpopular opinions

The mods are an incredible group of loving, caring caretakers that will do anything to give us a little hug.

Re: Unpopular opinions

I dislike art (both ingame and minimap) on many levels. It's not that it doesn't look nice but it usually interrupts the gameplay in some way. I haven't seen a ton of these recently though so that's good.

Re: Unpopular opinions

Some of the highest rated world makers on this game are awful because their challenges they make can only be completed by the 1337 1% after 6 hours.

Re: Unpopular opinions

I really enjoyed playing boss to codes because it gave players something to desire to achieve, and it allowed chaos to occur, unlike every other world including campaigns.

Re: Unpopular opinions

The unity update will fail to keep new people around for long, if the only main difference is the fact that the game is made in Unity, and some UI changes.

How do you think being on Steam will affect that game?

Re: Unpopular opinions

Moved to Game Discussion because these are all about the game.

I prefer spending time with so-called noobs than so-called pros.

There will be a popularity spike, then it will drop over the course of a month or a few months, with only a small part staying.

Re: Unpopular opinions

i personally see the player base of EE being separated into 3 "classes" or groups: skilled world makers/players and admins/mods - the royalty; forumers - the nobility; and everyone else - the plebeians and uncivilized filth

i like my name

Similarly, I sometimes think of the base being split up (these names might not be the best choices) as "pros" (those popular or respected), "mids" (those who are on a middle-ground, which most people on this forum probably are), and "noobs" (those that aren't well-known). I think I used to be a noob, but now I'm in more of a middle-ground. I don't make many levels though so I don't have much experience with it.

Re: Unpopular opinions

I think many of the post-2011 smiley and block graphics need changed, and the current limited/classic/prize items system needs scrapped.

Free games on Steam get a lot of attention over a long time, for as long as EE stays open there will be a lot of people trying it out and staying.

Conversely, I enjoy making minimap art way more than anything else because it's fun but everyone would hate if I focused on it

While it kind of bugs me when they go for the "intentionally annoying" type of gameplay I would have to agree.

What I mean, is that the new players will have a hard time getting set up with EE. The name of the game itself kinda misleads them thinking they can edit as much as they want, but in reality, passwords in worlds everywhere. Open worlds still exist, but you are lucky if you find any with more than 3 people inside.
Then there is the shop. It's so massive it would take them at least a year to get every free stuff, and let's be honest, noone wants to pay ~500$ for blocks and smilies (and 500$ doesn't even buy the whole shop).
The campaigns aren't a piece of cake either for new players, sure, there are rather easy ones, but for the bigger part of the campaigns, players are just going to get frustred because even some the veterans can't beat the difficult ones.

When the game was launched as we used to know it, it was new-user-friendly. Even the shop prices used to be low when it was introduced. I still remember the coy smiley being 110 energy. And I was happy to buy it instantly. It is not new-user-friendly anymore, and while there is a tutorial to help them, as soon as they see the cluster of things they have to get to be even remotely close to actually build good worlds. They can do it with basic blocks, but won't appreciate it compared to current worlds which make use of most blocks.

Re: Unpopular opinions

Campaigns aren't fun and they serve no purpose other than to stroke the egos of forum users.
