A way to know if a username is taken, before spending the 50 gems?

If I am going to change it, I would like to know I can make it into what I want to be changed to, or I will be forced to make a new one that I do not want and would rather keep my old one.

You can search here. If it returns an error message, then the username is free!

There really should be a solution to this ingame...

There are a few exceptions, such as 1nsanity/insanity, but otherwise, this.

You could also try looking up the name via profiles

The yonom.org search is a bit glitchy for some people, mainly if you changed your username.

Using http://everybodyedits.com/profiles/?/namehere is the best way
