Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

These blocks seem to be slightly copied from mario games.
Super Mario World:
Everybody Edits: (middle one)
New Super Mario Bros Wii: Everybody edits:
Okay, there is more like beta and stuff but it's getting hard to find them so just look at this.
If the block is edited in some way, it can avoid copyright infringement.
Except the coin sounds. I can't explain the coin sounds. I guess the pitch was edited or something .
People copy things from other people and alternate it all the time, it's not un-common, I wouldn't call it stealing tbf....
I wouldn't say it counts as actual stealing, but it does 'steal' the concept and maybe the base of those sprites. Although, they're clearly different pixel-wise. So I don't think it counts as copyright infringement, I'm sure Chris just needed some inspiration to help get Everybody Edits started.

The face block wasn't taken from SMW, it was taken from NSMB.

You left out all the smileys we got from facebook
no I don't think it counts as stealing, if you changed them some.

Just because you altered an image a bit doesn't mean that it's legally yours.
I'm pretty sure Chris and Facebook have an agreement. Since that EE is supported on Facebook as well.
As for the SMW/NSMB blocks, it doesn't seem to be that much of a big deal. OMG HE STOLE BLOCKS FROM SMW!! THAT A CRIM!! OH GOD HOW COULD HE? HOW COULD CHRIS STEAL 16x16 PIXELS?? THIS IS THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT!!!11!!1
Oh by the way, Facebook is technically gaining profit from EE on Facebook. So why not allow them to use Facebook's smilies?

They gave an agreement, since you can login through facebook(also kong)
TBH I don't think EE is related with Facebook in any way (expect for the fact that there's an EE app for Facebook). I've seen many Facebook applications that are "viruses" (not a real virus but a fishing site or an application that spams your chat and messages). Of course it happens because you give those apps the rights through that blue button but I don't think they have any kind of agreement with Facebook .
Some of the blocks aren't even changed at all or are changed a bit. Like just adding a pixel in every corner to make it a complete square and changing the color of it.
Look at an NSMB blocks sprite pack:
You can see that the blocks from the catagory "Blocks, doors, etc" like the bricks and the basic pack (again, with completing the corners) are ripped from there. You can see it is because of the effects and stuff.
Also: Face Block from "more blocks and stuff", Recolored Factory Block from "Bonus Room for Mini Mario", Facebook smileys (again I don't think that even if they do have an agreement Facebook would allow using their smileys), Grass blocks from SMW 1 (or 2) and the list goes on.
BUT, since RM2K came in there are no copied sprites at all finally
^And we needed to see all that why?

Is your life a disaster now? No? Oh OK. So if you don't want to see it close your eyes or something, I just gave a photo for the sprites look like the ones in EE, if you have problems with that I'm very very sorry but I'm not going to delete my comment.
All I asked is why we needed it. Half of those don't look anything close to blocks in EE

Cool story bro.
Btw I'm pretty sure that's a LOT more than a half, maybe 99% or more. But I never said most of these blocks are like the blocks in EE, lrn2read...
Okay, listen. Just because you recolor something, change a few pixels and whatnot DOES NOT make the art yours.
I hope this will get through to everyone in case people start recoloring other people's art and claiming it as theirs.

I don't think there were face blocks in new super mario bros... or new super mario bros wii...
All these blocks are really old. This game started out with only about 75 people playing it regularly. It was so insignificant that it really doesn't matter if things were taken directly from a well known video game.

if it was a crime this game wouldnt exist anymore.
