Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

@tiramisu or whatever, I apparently didn't make my point well enough. Art isn't really about now pretty something looks. It's about the deeper meaning. What's behind it? What drove its creation? What does it mean to the creator? THESE questions define art. Saying it's based solely on "oh that's nice looking lol!!!!" Is watering down one of the most sophisticated and important phenomenon in history!
If kiraninja or whoever can honestly tell me that their EE worlds are driven by passion and actually MEAN something to them, I'll be happy to concede your point...

Yeah, I'll have to agree that I missed the point by focusing too much on the aesthetics. But even if we disregard it, we would still be defining art as a visual symbol of value to us, making the question of art in EE irrelevant.
man, I don't know why I'm philosophizing about art here. I think I'll get some sleep now.

(Don't give me the "what about digital art" Schtick bc I have strong opinions about that and you won't like them lol).
Pixel art is actually very difficult to perfect. You need the right colors at the right place in order to make the art work. I believe pixel art is difficult. In fact, pixel art is the most underestimated art form in the world because a) it is extremely prevalent over the internet as everything we see on the internet is made of pixels, and b) people feel like pixel art is a simple click here and there. That's simply not the case. I have had experience with pixel art since 2013 and can say it is very difficult.
think about pixel art this way:
everything starts from scratch
anti-aliasing needs to be done from scratch
textures need to be done from scratch
blending, filling, all of those things need to be done from scratch
of course there are tools that automatically do these things for you, but take a look at these following pictures
this one uses many blenders and filters with a total of 10978 unique colors
this one is made from scratch, and has a total of 24 unique colors
yet the first picture is considered genuine pixel art
if you were to think about it, aren't all computer generated images considered pixel art since they are formed with pixels?
according to wikipedia,
Pixel art is a form of digital art, created through the use of raster graphics software, where images are edited on the pixel level. Graphics in most old (or relatively limited) computer, console, graphing calculator and mobile games are mostly pixel art.
note the part where it states, "where images are edited on the pixel level"
simply flinging around some shapes and shoving hundreds of different blenders does NOT make it pixel art
another thing i've noticed is that some so called "pixel artists" just draw with a larger brush
what they do is zoom in very close, use the pencil tool, and draw like it's on paper (not that it's bad, just looked down upon)
as you can see in the first image, the brush strokes are VERY distinct, unlike the second picture, where brush strokes do not exist
imagine painting a forest
you might have some gentle clouds, some nice trees, maybe even a happy accident
imagine how you paint; it's clear, defined, you're painting with a brush!
now think of it in terms of pixel art
you're drawing the same forest, but now you have to design an outline, fill in the correct colors, and then create a light source, shadows, maybe AA the leaves, etc.
then you repeat what you did until every pixel is in it's correct place
pixel art is the quantum mechanics of arts and humanities

This went from, "is this a kids game?" to, "what is good art?" :/

Pixel art often has deep meanings to them.

I don't mind as long as people are having a discussion. It's related to the fact that some images are allowed in game, while others are not. What merits an art to be accepted or unaccepted? When is nudity considered artistic or just attention seeking? These are interesting things to think about.

Marijuana is not illegal is the US, but it is legal in some other countries. So are you gonna ban users who draw pot in their world?
What about the people who draw Swaktikas? Theoretically it could be used to 'incite harm' against other people, but I have never seen anyone get banned for drawing one.
On that note you mine as well just ban anyone who draws gun/bombs/weapons of warfare, since they can be used to incite harm against people.
You see where I'm going with this? A lot of it is subjective based on the purpose of the art.

Is it really that much of a stretch for you to apply what I am saying to pixel art??????

Theoretically it could
We're not going off of theories. We go from situation to situation. Either a user is inciting harm, or they aren't.

Again, they "can be."

^If I knew enough laws of the netherlands, I'd pull something out of the dark books in the back of that "library of law" just to say "ha, you're breaking the law" but I haven't the time or energy to prove your blanket statements inefficient.
edit: and if you're about to say "but I didn't say the laws applied, I only meant that they are interpreted like the laws" then you may as well rewrite your little paragraph, because your wording is unclear.

@Jawapa: So you're copying pasting of the rules means nothing if you are claiming that these situations are being taken case by case.
Because to me it seems kind of ridiculous something like this is considered ok:
While apparently this warrants a ban:

My EE worlds aren't driven by passion, I am the one who's driven by passion.
What? So........are you saying you are passionate about EE worlds? I mean its cool if you are I just have no idea what that post is supposed to mean lmao
EDIT: My confusion is why you felt the need to make a distinction between the two. When I said driven by passion it is pretty implicit that I was talking about the person who MADE the world, given that EE words aren't sentient.

This is quickly turning into a philosophical essay about a 'Kids game"
I was just saying that I was enjoying making art worlds and there wasn't any particular messages behind them, just a copied art work of an image.
Sure, sometimes I change things but that doesn't mean It's not 'Art'.
You said previously that Art had a message behind it and I truly disagree there, there's a lot artworks who doesn't have messages behind them. An art form may be highly skilful, beautiful and effect the emotions in a positive manner without presenting a ‘meaning'.
It is difficult however for me to separate Beauty from Truth, as I think they are the same thing.

You're thinking purely aesthetically again. If its just "oh pretty haha!" thats all nice and good, but creation is a highly emotional process that inevitably requires a deeper meaning. So I strongly disagree with you (and I think you'd find that most trained artisans would as well, just judging by conversations I've had)
For the record, I think people here need to differentiate between art as in any kind of aesthetically pleasing piece, and art as in the deeper workings of creativity.
But we can agree to disagree because frankly I dont care anymore.

You stole my words.

u mirin my aesthetics brah?

@Calicara - Children of the Pie was created prior to the current staff. If I remember right, it placed in a Halloween contest, and the people who created it were given an award. It's also not inciting/persuading harm, though I can see where you are coming from.
As for the picture of the woman, I have no idea what happened in that situation. I'm going to say there is more to the story than just that image being created.

so just because it was created before the rule it is exempt? that is really stupid

It was something that occurred then, and was allowed. It's kind of like a double-jeopardy thing. And it would do more harm than good to overturn the previous decision.
An interesting line you're toeing. So, I created this pr0n world m8. Made it a few years ago, for real. Has all the old blocks and stuff. Y'know, the fancy EE Artist v0.0.0.1. Real high-def black and white stuff.
It's good to go then.

Ok so the user Asspirate decided to make artistic nude before a rule was in place. So are you gonna clear it now because there's nudity, or let it be because it's art? Jawapa I know you're trying to be a PR for the staff but you are not very good at it.
EDIT: Btw if you delete it not only will you clear some very nice art, but you would also be contradicting your statement from before. I also I have no qualms with his levels or Children of the Pie. I think they are all very nice.
