Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Re: illigal words

Having the chat be so censored is pretty dumb. It says the reason you need to verify is "To verify that you are not a child or that your parents approve of you chatting". So if you've verified that you're an adult or your parents are okay with you chatting, why the censoring? You might as well just give everyone chat if it's going to be censored or just take away chat altogether and only permit quick chat.

Re: illigal words

Um, I'm pretty sure it's not illegal. You probably won't receive a fine or a prison sentence for saying the word "hoe."

I don't see why any words should be blocked; the charge for chat proves that we either have parental consent to view possible vulgarity, or are adults ourselves. Maybe it's not a perfect system, but it's good enough for Chris.

Uh oh, is that a wikipedia article with a seemingly legit definition for a medical term used in a professional setting?   My goodness, how insulting it must be.

Other than that, we have retard: to be delayed.

Heh, yep. I believe it can also mean "to be belayed," but I could be wrong.

Retard is censored? Why? Some people are disabled like that.

Do you go on X-Box Live, or Playstation Live (?) or anything like that without a censor system and preferably with voice-chat. If so, can you tell me you have never been insultingly called "gay" or, "slow." (Off-Topic: One time I came across this Canadian who said: "You guys are like, uh, homophobes!" and various other things).

Before Twipply says anything: Just because it is in fact a correct word for a medical condition does not mean it is not insulting. If you can go up to a gay person and say "HEY GAY GUY! HAHAHA, **** YOU!" or a slow person and say: "HA! YOU'RE slow! LOL! slow PEOPLE!!!" and have them not even be slightly angry or disturbed then I will be thoroughly impressed. (I'm NOT saying that these things cannot be used in a non-offensive way, I am saying that they can be easily used in an offensive way, and thus are well-deserving of a censor, if such a censor system is to be existent).

Oh no. I've ventured outside of my realm of the Off-Topic and Creative Sections. How did I even get into this section!?!?!

Just because it can be insulting is no reason to censor it (ie "I don't like you." Should "like" be censored?).

Again, the whole point of paying one cent to chat is to verify that a child's parent/guardian is okay with his kid possibly viewing any type of vulgarity. Chris specifically states that chat is not appropriate for children under the age of 13, and so they should not get chat. If the parent okays this, then why should he still block anything?

I just easily used positive words in an offensive way, and thus they are well-deserving of a censor.

The word "easily" means something here. (And not just meaning "with ease," also meaning to a higher degree with ease")

This post has really gotten off topic, he wanted to know why hoe was bad, it was answered in the first few post's. Then for some reason we started talking about minecraft and censorship.

Okay, maybe censoring numbers wasn't too much of a good idea.

Re: illigal words

Words like butter and hoe are censored, which are just a food and a gardening tool, while words like "sex" "damn" and "nazi" aren't censored.

It's not that I'm saying they're bad or anything, but I don't think a food and a gardening tool are   any worse than them. :/

Ok, can somebody please tell me what muff means??? I don't want THAT word censored!!!
And why Do we say bad words anyway? When we fall off on bosses or shift we should just say simple words like dang-it and noo! Not crude words like sh1t and ****!

Jaybm wrote:

A lot of those are completely taken out of context. What if someone made a level called "boss hard on", then it was censored.

Zoey2070 wrote:

It really isn't that bad. Well, It's not bad enough to be censored.

They don't call disabled people retards anymore because retard is now a bad word.

Re: illigal words

Actually, the definition of "hoe" is gardening tool. No where in the official dictionary does it say that means a prostitute, but it's commonly accepted that "ho" means that. Yet, that's not censored. And "hoe" is.
