Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Themed Website Feedback

(Originally asked here)

What do you guys think of logo changes for events the Paris shooting? Is EE an appropriate place to discuss these matters?

Honnestly, I'm a small minority on this, but all this support kind of urine me off.
There was an attack in Liban in Beyrouth killing 43 people and injuring 239 people and nobody was giving this kind of support to them.
Hell, there a people dying every day in these wars and nobody gives a poop. Lives = lives. French lives are no better than libanese lives. They're the same.
Showing support to only european/american lives is just insulting mankind as a whole to me.

Now, I know 95% of the french people i know will disagree with me or just act stupidly patriotic. Or mostly ignores me because I don't think like everybody else.

It's not for discussion. It's to show respect to the victims and their beloved ones.
And besides, are we suddenly not allowed to mourn?

Re: Themed Website Feedback

The issue appears to be that we didn't show respect to people in the other attacks.

I think it's fine, but it was a bit out of place when I first saw it.

I never said that. I am just asking for feedback, not necessarily negative. Are we suddenly not allowed to talk about matters anymore?

EE is an international game, and I'm personally not sure if it, - the game Everybody Edits, - should have opinions on things that happen in the world.

Our staff comes from the US and Europe, which means that we tend to weight events happening in here much more than those happening elsewhere in the world, like the Lebanon bombing last Thursday and the Baghdad one on Friday.

The fact that someone would actually ask why the flag was put up supports my opinion that the topic doesn't matter to every player. (Or are we suddenly trying to inform people of what's happening in the world too? Now that's certainly inappropriate for a flash game!)
It is also important to realize that by not (consciously) changing the logo we wouldn't be disrespectful towards the victims. It would mean that we are staying neutral on the said topic.

I personally tent to agree with ravatroll here, that the act of standing up against one cause will automatically discriminate against all other events that we didn't sympathize for. I don't see the current logo change as a definite mistake, but I really think that logo changes like this one should be used very sparsely.

Companies should stay out of events that don't directly affect them.

Terrorist attacks and other massacres shouldn't be something we should worry about.

cant we have only one topic for this t.t why do we need like 37 topics in every forum section. It's not that I think we shouldn't show sympathy, but seriously... Y SO MANY TOPICS!

no. and like your other post said thought im to lazy to quote it. ee is an international game.

all players can have their own opinions. and any can mourn if they want to. but ee itself should not get involved. its not EE's place. if you want to say something. do so on your own time with your personal lives, and im not trying to be rude, but ee is not the place to for these types of things. if i were you and there was a big event like this. i may, in my own life post something to social media. or even in the offtopic section of this forum. but ee itself despite being a social place is should be neutral on the internet. if you start doing this for every event when does it end.

its horrible what happened and wile its a nice thought that the staff of ee cares. ee is not the place for it.

Uh, what's wrong with you? In the other thread you said something hateful, and now this?
Maybe you should just leave for a bit.

Honestly, why shouldn't we be worrying? Don't tell me "overpopulation" like you said in the other thread because that's wrong... You think innocent people around the world should be shot in a massacre or bombed in an attack? Only for "overpopulation"? That's inhumane, maybe you should take a break from these forums of you're going to suddenly act like this.

Re: Themed Website Feedback

We should worry, and raise awareness from the actual state of the world. But EE is NOT the proper place to do this.
Changing the EE logo because of a terrorrist attack is like throwing a piece of raw meat in a vegetarian's face to emphasize how cruel the animal industry can be.
It just isn't effective.

I totally agree with Processor.
Terrorists does want to make mass panic. I say that we should not advertise this acts on a flash game.

I am not saying we shouldn't care for the victims or trying to be humouristic, I am saying this is a kids game and we can just keep this personal.

Re: Themed Website Feedback

First, I think it's not mourning. It's more like telling france: our thoughts are with you, and you are not alone.
Also - sure, a lot of people die all over the world, because of various - sometimes unfair reasons. But does it make supporting france false?

You don't care when someone you don't relate to dies. But when your brother or sister does, I am sure you do.
Which means translated: A not that small part of the community lives in the EU. France is part of the EU.
It's important for us because now, the terror is not targeting anymore the places it used to. Where it is more like war.
Now the target is a peaceful city. The city of love.

It is really disturbing. Because that means it could happen anywhere. Berlin, London. It's an attack on innocent human beings.
And in my opinion, we need to show support in any way possible.

PS: I think this 'issue' shouldn't be really open for discussion. It doesn't affect the game in any way. It's there and players have to accept it.

Sure, a thing small thing its appreciated like Google's  the black ribbonribbon-black_68.png
But changing all the theme is a bit disturbing for me. It just remembers me "YOU'RE UNDER ATTACK! YOU'RE PLAYING ON COMPUTER WHILE THE COUNTRY DIES AROUND YOU!"
I use EE to forget about the world, to go in another dimension.

I see nothing wrong with a game or a company showing support of a certain country that suffered from terrorist attacks as long as it does not limit player's experience in any way.
