Whats with People's Definition of "Copies".

Alright so once I've made a world which is inspired from Star's Terminal, but then some crew said something like this:

- This is a copy, retard
- You noob, This is copy of star's Terminal
- Delete this or be hated on EE
- You copied Star's Terminal, you only changed few things -_-
- This is like making Terminal's Sequel, except you make it in your profile.
- Actually, this looks exactly the same as Terminal.

And that crew threatened to slander me by spreading misinformation that I am a level copying ****.

The picture above is the comparison of Star's Terminal & the stuff I'm working on. They obviously look different. What's the definition "Copies" again?

EDIT: For those angry soul, I have asked for Star's Permission, if that makes you happy.

If this is copying then every single world could be said to be copying because it has ground or grass.

Not really a copy.Copy is making EXACTLY the same world,don't changing nothing,or just a few bricks.Your is just a what i call "based-on" world.

Its just the illusion of having the same bricks used. They're probably trying to remember terminal without looking at it or they are trolls.

Copies:

To me,it is using the exact part of another level in yours,like it could be a mini,or the whole entire level.

The level you have is sort of it,but for me,I think you just got inspired by it.The level Star made is very generic,just a level with gray walls and background and some basic blocks,so I don't think the haters know that.

NOT a copy. How about you tell azzomdude 'bout this topic. I specifically want you to tell him that he needs to take a better look at your level and to not blame people for doing nothing.

change the bg color from gray to checker gray and then they wont think its like stars world

Usually,if so thing looks conspicuous,and it looks similar to another level,they would point that out,saying it's copied.Changing the background might help,but looking at the minimal,the background becoming darker still makes it stand out.

I did read the other posts, and it's same themed. i think it's a copy because you'll go in, same style 'art', same mini's, and the over all concept is the same, don't just assume i didn't read the other posts.
aotenshi, you're just causing commotion. we were passed this, but you had to bring it back up, great job. and quite frankly, i could care less if the whole forum is on your side. hell, even all of everybody edits, but that doesn't change my mind. i will always take this as a copy. oh, i suppose you won't mind if i take some ideas from your level 'fire hell' or 'ice climb' ? i'll just take a few platforms and mountains, it's not like it's going to be a copy. right? maybe get 'ideas' from a few minis too? then you can call me a copier, and i'll make a whole topic on these forums too. how does that sound? just swell' to me

When you copy something you're either doing the exact same thing, or trying to do the exact same thing.

Being inspired by something is more like trying to do something similar, thinking it will be equally as good or because you like the idea, keeping in mind that you have to change it a bit.

Another thing, it also depends on what they're saying you copied.
If they said you copied the whole level, you didn't.
If they said you copied the minis, idk I haven't played your level.
If they said you copied the art, sort of.
If they said you copied the theme, fair enough.

okay, no need for name calling, be mature and don't flip out o.o - well,   the boxes are the same shape, outlined with glass on the corners. the 'circuit board' themed bg, although the colors are the same, he copied the style of how star did it too

ok, kinggun i can see that. but posting this will only cause more trouble

I've seen many types of levels like this, even before stars was made. Out of all of them this is the only one that actually adds in a new idea of unlocking stuff. Technically because of this new idea, it makes it different from the others, and thus making it an original idea again.

Stop flaming him guys, who really cares if it looks similar or plays similar to stars? The level adds a new idea, making it original, and not a copy.

I won't call you a copier for that.... Most minis aren't original after all.
