Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

This is often used to mark a admin/moderator was somewhere. Wouldn't you want it? It's a cool text that could be used to decorate the world and also give information. It would be very good to a lot of worlds, but what is this for? Just for moderators. What about allowing text for everybody and use another item to mark "a moderator was there"?
What do you think signs are for?
They are different from admin text yet still give information.

Why not use text to display better rather than having to move on every sign?
This is a false statement.

Text makes the worlds super laggy though.

There is a logical reason as to why it isn't available for everyone. Text is extremely laggy when too much is placed. EE would be a lag fest if every level in the game had it.
Superman smiley
Yes, Benjaminsen always wanted a smiley just for himself. Why don't allow it for everyone? Everybody wants to collectionate smilies, let they have superman if they can. Making a smiley only for moderators is the same as not allowing the community do something while moderators can.
EDIT: Nevermind, keep it for yourself.
Incorrect, Benjaminsen didn't want the smiley just for himself, he wanted it for all the staff members... which... is exactly what we're doing? Anyone that helps on the game gets the smiley, that's how it's always worked, right? Also, people who collect smileys are already at a huge loss is they don't have contest smileys. Not having the superman won't help you complete your collection when you would be missing five others no matter what.
Custom colored name
I think the staffs can keep this for themselves, but I think they shouldn't even have this feature. Instead, credit who is helping the community somewhere.
We have colored names so we are easily identifiable ingame. If a user has a question about the game, or something to inform us about, they might not even notice that we are in the same level. It is 100% necessary. Also, we would give out colored usernames for everyone, but then that ruins the whole point. It would be basically the same thing as taking a highligher and highlighting an entire essay. If everything is highlighted, nothing is.
Remember: The staffs are supposed to work on the game, not have privileges over other players, this is called VIP.
I agree to an extent. We are supposed to work on the game, but I see no problem in giving the staff special items. We are the ones who keep the game running after all, and it's not as easy as you may think it is. I don't think we should be creating staff only things on a regular basis, but a few things here and there doesn't hurt anything.

Also, colored usernames and the superman smiley have existed basically since EE started... Why are we all complaining about them now, nearly 5 years later? I don't understand this at all.

Hope this helped clear some things up... Maybe?

Quick question, why is text so laggy?
Could you imagine people placing long lines of text on every block (they can overlap) in a huge world? If that does not make the game lag, then I am sure underestimating the game's limits.

I tested this with Master1, he held down text block in my world and I teleported him to a different spot. There was a huge line of text and it was really funny but didn't actually lag that much

It doesn't look very laggy, bug will always have, why don't put a effort to fix it? Also, it could be like signs, only +1 text once bought.

Well the reason is simple - We have a lot of other plans that are much more important to do than fixing text. If it is even possible for us to fix text, we'll probably get around to it eventually, but for now, it's pretty low on the priority list. This is mostly because you guys have signs which are essentially the same thing.

So, you've isolated what the problem is.
The detail you're glossing over is the decision that this cannot be fixed.
"rendered outside the screen" -- well, then render it inside the screen. (And before you all say "but it doesn't work like that" ... just hold your peace. Because you do realize that it works however it wants to.)
Those who can't do, teach.
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.
It is a well-known fact that those people who must want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it... anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.
I think fish is nice, but then I think that rain is wet, so who am I to judge?
For a moment, nothing happened. Then, after a second or so, nothing continued to happen.

You're talking to the wrong person. JaWapa does not code for the game so go bug someone else. Why are you so concerned anyway? You don't have text and as Master1 said, it's not a priority.

Well news flash, it doesn't work like that. Also, text uses more data than blocks, so loading it takes more "effort".

As JaWapa said, text has more data because it's a string. Strings sends more bytes because they are a sequence of characters, since text is being always shown in the map, its constantly sending bytes and bytes of data, unlike signs, those are strings too, difference is that once you stop touching the sign, sign text is not being displayed anymore and therefore no extra data being sent.

one 40 (i dont know, this mostly fits for the cost) letter already showed text block should cost as current sign
A signature is a small piece of text that is attached to your posts. In it, you can enter just about anything you like. Perhaps you would like to enter your favourite quote or your star sign. It's up to you! In your signature you can use BBCode if it is allowed in this particular forum. You can see the features that are allowed/enabled listed below whenever you edit your signature.

They aren't the same thing. There are a lot of situations where text would be definitely chosen over signs. Signs just show the text when you hover them, but text doesn't have that limitation (doesn't mean that it should only be used instead of signs, there are also a lot of situations where signs would be chosen over text just as the others where text is chosen over signs). It's quicker to get the information from it, and looks way better than signs.
And it can be used as decoration (ASCII art, next EE trend), as Creature already said above, and also used for bots (example: ASCII interactive games).
If it's not entirely fixed, you can restrict it to a limited quantity, with a high cost, as Creature said too, and turn off having infinite text blocks with Builder's Club as well. It's for situations like that that limited quantity items exist, if they didn't exist, world quantity would be abused (the other items I don't see a reason, just to have something to buy when you have already bought all smileys, block packages and auras).
