Building Challenge

Hi welcome to the Building Challenge's official thread!

cmon guys keep this alive! its really fun when you participate!

NOTE: since there was a physics update, some of these may not work! if you can help me point them out I will be happy to make space for a working contraption!

ABOUT:

Hi everyone! I thought some people may be looking for something fun to do or need some help in their levels! This topic will bring something to do for both of you! How it works: People will suggest something that they need help with in their levels and other people will try to find a solution to their problem. That way, the everybody edits community can help each other and more cutting edge inventions and contraptions will be used in worlds. This is also a great way to practice your logic and building skills!

RULES:

1. To participate, post a picture of the completed contraption below with the challenge number.
2. I will take the best contraption and post it under each challenge.
3. It has to work 100% of the time and be the smallest posted.
4. It must be encased completely in a frame and the blocks inside that frame will be counted to determine a     
     winner if the size of the frame is the same in 2 contraptions.
5. Please don't spam posts or post completed contraptions that are worse than the one that is already the best unless you want to suggest something more useful due to it being more purposeful towards the reason of the challenge.

SUGGESTIONS:

If you would like to suggest challenges or need a contraption to complete some purpose, you may also post below.
Include the objective, size, and reason for the challenge!
(don't make the size too small. give the builder reasonable space   to build. if you don't post the size or want to choose one, I will think of a reasonable space.)
I will add to the list whenever somebody needs a contraption or just wants to see some creativity .
If a challenge is very similar to another one already suggested or has the same reason for being suggested, don't suggest it again.

CHALLENGES:

#1.
Objective: Separate 2 very close smileys which are going around in a circle. They have to be less than one block apart and not moving. This must be an automatic system which will work without an editor or level players interfering with the system. The players must simply enter and the system will separate them.
Size: Under 50x10 blocks
Reason: Useful for separating smileys at the beginning of levels into groups or in boss levels.

Objective: Make a device that places smileys smack in the middle of 2 blocks. Editors and players must not be interfering.
Size: Under 25x10 blocks
Reason: Just for fun (i think)

Objective: Make a trampoline that bounces you up higher and higher. No gravity blocks outside of the launch ramp (gravity blocks are only allowed inside ramp).
Size: Under Maximum bounce height (37 so far) x 25 blocks
Reason: Useful in some levels and also fun to play with.
Pic: Be creative!

Objective: Using no solid blocks, create a contraption that lands you centered on a zero-gravity block. The smiley must be afk, no editor can be interfering, and the smiley can't touch the frame of the contraption.
Size: Under 25x25 blocks
Reason: Interesting Challenge!

Objective: Program a system where you press a set of keys and an afk smiley goes somewhere. it must be self-resetting.
Size: 50x50
Reason: Can be used to make an afk smiley perform a set of actions.

Objective: Create a key presser with an afk smiley that presses a key once in 5 minutes. it can be one second off.
Size: Under 50x20 blocks
Reason: Races can be improved with this!

Objective: Get the smiley from the spawn point to the crown without touching any solid blocks except for the block directly in between the crown and spawn point.
Size: Under 15x15 blocks
Reason: Challenge!

Objective: Press a key at 1 minute intervals. No other keys allowed.
Size: Under 5x100 blocks
Reason: 1 key systems are really needed in some levels.

Objective: Build an elevator that will send you up to different floors depending on what keys you press. you start out on ANY FLOOR and only one person on elevator at a time. Also, must have 8 floors!
Size: Under 50x25 blocks
Reason: Fun to play with.

Hi Jasonma, I have an idea for a challenge! Since a smiley is 16x16 and a block is too, maybe one that stops a smiley in the center of two blocks?

so you're saying something which will make smileys centered in the pixel grid? size of contraption? it may be very easy if it's big enough. another thing: what reason would you need it for? are you centering a smiley without surrounding blocks to stop it or do you want it to land centered on a platform? more details please.

He means in the center of two blocks, like 8 pixels in one block and 8 in the other one. Am I right?

OH LOL thanks eeguy. that is definately a good challenge. i'll add it to the list. maybe a 10x25 is big enough. what do you think?

what about a 25x25 contraption that places you directly in the middle of a zero gravity block.
-you can only use gravity arrows, no solid objects!
-this could probably be used for do-it-itself levels.

Challenge 2:

Also: stevethepirahnaplant, are you saying like centered on the block but with zero-gravity (dot) on top?
and what is a do-it-itself level?
lastly, every contraption is required to have a frame. so by all gravity blocks, do you mean something where the smiley won't touch the frame (thus making it as if there were no frame) or require support of any solid blocks inside the frame?

For #1 I believe keys should be used.

yes why not lol. keys can be used. anything inside the frame counts as blocks though. so use the smallest amount of anything when possible. #1 is especially challenging since it requires 2 smileys. use a guest or something.

also, from now on, +1 rep for anyone who can suggest something good. i turned my reps back on so i can do that. so +1 for calc

What about Trampoline? You can use portal, gravities inside the portal ramp. No gravities outside the ramp!

uhhh so you're saying bouncing up and down at the same height forever? i don't think that's possible unless it's only 2 blocks up and 2 blocks down. like if u did 2 up arrows and 2 down arrows, you could stay forever on it. but not more than that.

No, Just trampoline, you get higher everytime you land. if theres a height limit then its ok.

Forgot to mention that the ramp must reach at least 25 block.

is this the type of contraption you wanted?

its not really a trampoline but its the closest that i can get :/

No im saying you land in the middle of the dot with no blocks around you.

yes. no frame touching allowed!
