So Many Great Things!

With the multitude of changes that EE has seen in the course of a single year, I am wondering how other players that have been playing EE for at least that long feel about them.

Personally, I love looking around at something I am a part of and watching it flower into something greater. That is how I feel when I look at the new features and (few) new functions [compared to the features and such of last year and before]. I imagine it's how the earlier users of Facebook felt as well.
Not everyone is happy about change, and I am sure that there are players who are unaccepting of things such as the potions and even the revamped magic coin system. I'm curious as to what the different opinions are out there.

How do you feel when you look at today's EverybodyEdits, as opposed to pre-magic EE?

Re: So Many Great Things!

It's really not EE itself that makes me like it but the community and boss type levels. Good players quit. Era of bosses ended. I quit EE. Simple as that. However, the woot system got me back into playing EE again but it won't keep me busy for long as there are only 12 levels.
EEDD timed door survival is a new interesting boss game play that just came out which is also keeping me busy.\
There have been great updates coming out lately but with the updates came annoying bugs. As far as I can see MrShoe is actually listening to us. (Coin gates, replying to emails [squadfs], releasing items to beta first then to non-betas, looking into the bugs we note him about) but there are still many bugs.

Overall I am fond of EE today but I still think it was a much better game before the major physics change which made a lot of players quit. (This was before MrShoe came.)

First off, don't make a whole topic in color.

Second, not to be a hypocrite, but there's already a topic similar to this one.

Third, I like the updates but I just don't like the frequency of them. Some things I obviously dislike but they usually get fixed.

I could not agree more. It is the reason that I find myself also drawn to Minecraft multiplayer. To get on these creative games, full of people ready to create and converse, it's great. The community (or more specifically the players that I came across) are what initially hooked me. Being nineteen does not matter in small gaming communities; I am free to act silly whenever I wish to without drawing a disapproving remark //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/big_smile

How about in contrasting colors?

Yes, I can see that as being something unwelcome by players. It's normal to dislike change, even more so when change is so frequent. Most people like to become super familiar with something (new or not) before adding anything on to it. I was off of EE for nearly a month due to lack of internet access, and was overwhelmed by the sheer number of new smileys and blocks. It was saddening to come in right in the middle of special smileys as well. I nearly had the pilgrim :/

Does he reply to us, or just that one person?   I sent him an e-mail and haven't gotten anything back.

Haha, overwhelmed by a month?   I played EE years ago when all we had were starting bricks and smilies.   No walls.   No portals.   The only bonus content was BETA, with BETA bricks and smilies.   I left about the time the Santa smiley came out.   The game was feeling a bit stale.   I come back a couple years later and see a plethora of new packs to get!   Even walls that I get for free.   So I've been spending the past couple months catching up with most of the new content.   It's odd how some say there's not enough time to buy everything with energy yet I almost have all the new packs after having so much to catch up on //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/neutral
Though they could be better, I do like the updates.   If someone doesn't like a new package.. then don't get it.   You aren't forced to get the new package.   If you also don't like the frequent updates, then skipping the package is almost the same as no update happening to you.   For the Woot system, there does need to be some change.   We should at least be able to de-woot.

We have been getting a lot of packs.   I wish we could get some new physic blocks instead.   Pack after pack, it feels the same to me.   5 to 8 blocks, just with different textures.   All this does is make the game look different, but doesn't make the gameplay better.   Physic blocks do this though.   Wouldn't it be cool for there to be bouncy blocks, moving platforms, slippery ice blocks, and collapsing blocks?   I'd love that.   However new non-physic blocks are easiest to make, code, and are an easy way to get money for, for those who pay with gems.

It seems like I had cruddy luck with magic coins the first time they were introduced, lol. I was perhaps the second person to to acquire the witch smiley (which led to some players overreacting and thinking that I was a 'hidden mod' of some sort.), yet I hardly ever recieved a magic coin that increased my Energy level.

Maybe it's because I am not as artistically-inclined as some of my fellow players, but I agree with you completely. I would love to see how players use such blocks. I might even be inclined to try making some humongous puzzle world as well with a few more physics blocks.

Re: So Many Great Things!

Honestly, after seeing everything on these forums, and my own opinions, I think that we should wait and see what happens, if MrShoe makes EE better or worse with these woots, what he does with them. THEN should be the time we should complain/compliment on what MrShoe has done with these. I'm not 100% sure if he will do anything with the ideas on the forum, because I think he's not even registered on the forums, but let's just see how he works this out. BTW, I've really been influenced by Echo!.

Yes, as I said we get more and more packs but the game only looks different the gameplay isn't improved on.

All of the negativity towards MrShoe aside (it surprises me to see someone feel so strongly against a single person for adding features!), I can see where you are coming from. Also from your signature I can see that you did as I did and took time off of EE at some point and were sucked into Minecraft. Am I right in assuming that you, too, felt somewhat overwhelmed by the many new things that met you upon signing back in?
I myself like the idea of the woot system. More specifically, I like the idea of being able to 'vote' for worlds. Similar to the use of reputation on this very fan forum. Then there's the magic coin system which is better organised now than at first. However, it seems out of place to me on EE. Much like attaching a Gatling gun to a small German car (in a non-James Bond fashion).

crastopher wrote:

I, as an individual, enjoy color and personalization. On forums [whether it be this, a forum that I moderate, or even one that I post anonymously on] I always use this color when possible (and allowed by the forum rules).
Here is an alternate answer to please those who dislike my use of it:
I have a need to feel special and mysterious, and so make myself seem better than everyone else by making my posts stand out. I also have a constant need for attention and am possibly compensating for a small genitalia.

**Edit    Reading that back over made me laugh aloud, lol.

Re: So Many Great Things!

Original post (as provided by bass)
'Original' post (recreated by me and using the preview button so you can read the text in all its glory if you want)mawBL.png for non-ninja'd version
Oh, since you're apparently so amazing that you get to type in color, I'm going to use my super awesome macro AND type in color since there's apparently no rules about being an obnoxious derp. (but I am not going to be in character because that would be too complicated)
(This no longer applies and this post has been completely redone, this is the translation of the original post, so how about you go and click the second link above since some of the things said don't make sense when they're not in color and with a terrible, terrible typing quirk.)

I have been on ee for two years, as is a commonly well known fact. I've seen all the updates. All of them. (that was definitely obligatory, considering. Because i am trolling. Hahahahaha bad puns.) my attention and love for ee has been dwindling for quite some time, and i'd usually just get on ee, spend my energy, log out, and log onto a different account and spend the energy there. But ever since julian has joined the dev team, i gotta say, i've been playing ee a lot. Especially with the new woot system (and especially since the woot-bombed worlds. Those were really fun -- i spent about four hours in one.) since it gives iniciative and rewards for being active. I'm glad that ee is flourishing, but i guess i am a bit nostalgic for when there were a bunch of decent maps, considering i've been playing and replaying the same levels over and over and i just wanna see an ex crew map online or something. That would be fantastic.
Anyway, i like julian a lot better than chris.
About potions, i am 0kay (hehe >:]) with them since they can be disabled. They're not really a game breaker. I sort of miss being able to point myself out on the minimap with ease but i guess we can't have everything in life, can we?
Julian's added a bunch of good things to ee -- such as low gravity worlds, a lot of packs with a bunch of varity, boost arrows, and water. This is the game ee is meant to be.

Also, you do realise that when you say 'pre-magic ee' that, to a lot of people, implies before the original magic coins (woo misleading names good job julian) -- you know, the grinch, the wizards, and the witches? Along with the energy boosts before those were removed for abuse.

But that's my thoughts. I used to rant and rave at how chris was ruining the game and while my views are quite contradictory to how they were when i began playing, i still believe he wasn't helping the game very much, but he wasn't *ruining* it, per se.

Anti-Translation: (Because, you know, it would have been a lot easier to type it normally and then convert it, but no, I typed it like that and am converting it to normal-speech.)
Because, you know, it was way better the first way.

WOOPS IT'S A LINK.

No, it's just against the rules, but, y'know.

Where does it say you can't post in color?

Do not...
...post useless, irrelevant, inappropriate, or incomprehensible content.
...post text with unreasonable effects.
...insult, annoy, or pester.

It could be considered incomprehensible because it's a dark green, and it's certainly annoying and definitely unnecessary.
Next time i reply to one of your topics, I swear to gog I am going to key-mash and replace random letters with numbers and set it on #a1a100 and claim I'm typing as Mituna. And not leave a translation.

I feel that the game isn't the same as it used to be. I also feel that MrShoe doesn't care much about the community, Note the introduction of "New" Magic coins and leveling.. And potions.

It feels like he is adding everything the community didn't want. Feel free to search "Leveling up" Or "Potions" In the suggestion forum.

I could not agree more. Further improvents to the physics, as well as new physics-related features are and have been my favorite changes yet. I have yet to even see anyone complain about physics-related updates (with a few exceptions, all of which pertain to bugs that were used to complete levels).
Yes, I do realize that there are two ways to interpret 'pre-magic'. I meant completely pre-magic. I was quite disappointed in the group of players that abused the system and 'spoiled the fun for us all'.
