Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

The Creation of a List of Rules - Why this is Necessary
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Numerous times, people have been banned, or nearly banned for actions that were never clearly stated on everybodyedits.com. It can be argued that all the knowledge of the rules can be clearly seen on ee.forumify.com, also known as the EE Fan Forums. Many have never visited, or do not know of the forum. There is not even a single link or reference to the forums on everybodyedits.com. There are links to the forum on beta.everybodyedits.com, but with beta removed from the game, how is anyone going to find that site?
Even on the forum, the rules can only be known by searching through many threads and posts. This makes it highly possible that many rules are never found.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quote by EDJ on List of People to ban
Post here :
Shared accounts
offensive usernames
etc.
In this easy to find thread, it is shown that those with shared accounts and offensive usernames are subject to bans.
Shared accounts:
It is not stated that only those who massively share their accounts will be banned, not those who simply share with a friend or two, online or in real life, as long as none who use the account break the rules(what rules?).
Offensive usernames: It can be said that there is common knowledge not to use "bad" or "offensive words" in your username. Many would believe this, but with many different ages using EE, different words can be bad or OK for different people. Those who are much younger may see words like crap as bad, which surprisingly has an unusual censor on the game. "crap" itself is not censored, but if you add absolutely anything other than space, it will be censored. Those who are older may see some words that are worse as OK. The lack of specifics can cause many to unintentionally break the rules.
For example, a child's parents curse frequently. When the child curses the parents do not care, the child learns that cursing is OK, goes on everybodyedits.com, and becomes banned for using a word they may have thought was cool as a username.
Etc.: what determines what is under this? Purely the experiences of those who read it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are many rules not easily found anywhere, to list a few:
You are not allowed to make a name that is similar to a moderator's
You are not allowed to make inappropriate art
You are not allowed to abuse or make fun of other people
You are not allowed to crash levels with a bot
Each of these has been enforced, despite not being listed anywhere.
You are not allowed to make a name that is similar to a moderator's - I have made the accounts "benjaminsenthesecond" and "mrsh0e." Both were created purely for joking with friends, I did not make any to trick anyone. I unintentionally tricked one person with "mrsh0e," and I apologize for being so reckless. "Benjaminsenthesecond's" name was removed within a week, and I changed its name to "namechange." I do not think any actions were taken against "mrsh0e," but Benjaminsen was fully intent on banning someone with the use of mrsh0e as one of the reasons.
You are not allowed to make inappropriate art - Helvi was briefly banned because of his worlds. Art itself is debatable, but the levels could be considered inappropriate for everybodyedits.com due to the fact that the target audience is younger. Though I am not 100% sure, it can be inferred that Rpgmaster2000, another moderator, was OK with Helvi's levels being on everybodyedits.com from the image on this topic. While it seems Rpgmaster2000 was OK with the levels, it seems MrShoe and Benjaminsen were not, seen here. The conflicting opinions of Moderators makes this much more complicated and difficult to understand what is OK and what is not.
You are not allowed to abuse or make fun of other people - Lol made death threats to people, seen in this topic. Over a period of time, Lol was banned, unbanned, lost chat, and eventually banned again, if my memory is correct. Originally, it was never stated that death threats were bannable offenses, there was concern over its legality, but without knowing the countries in which each person lives, you cannot know whether it is against the law.
You are not allowed to crash levels with a bot - Concerning problems such as infrequent enforcement, someone innocent nearly being banned in one of the few instances where this was seriously considered, and a lack of rules, this is a very confusing rule. Many people have blatantly stated that they crash levels, on everybodyedits.com and on ee.forumify.com. Despite this, very few, if at all, have been banned or punished. However one time someone took crashing to a very extreme level. Some background information: My brother made five accounts which he shared with members of a chat room to use for anything. For months, all that they were used for was bots placed in every level that recorded the chats. After this long period of innocence, one person used them for bots in which they sent them to as many levels as possible, crashing every single one. These attacks affected nearly everyone, and there was a great influx of complaints and topics on ee.forumify.com. Benjaminsen was originally going to ban one of my friends, despite their innocence. Me and my friend were logging into the accounts and putting them in his level to prevent the crasher from putting them in the level as bots. The level had already been crashed several times. Overall, the attempts were futile and we gave up. Benjaminsen was going to ban the ones whose ip addresses were on the accounts. The ip addresses listed for the accounts were my friend's, because the crash bots did not have ip addresses. Even though Benjaminsen did not ban my friend in the end, he made it clear that he did not like it that we had so many accounts, and the fact that I had the account mrsh0e. These are still not listed anywhere, and can only be known through that rare image, and recollections such as this one.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Due to these numerous problems and instances of concern, I argue for the creation of a list of rules. This list should be clearly shown on everybodyedits.com, to users both new and old.
Proposed List of Rules
1. No shared accounts
Accounts which are shared by an unlimited number of people will be banned. While those who share their account with only a few friends, or well known acquaintances, will not be banned for this sharing alone, one must accept the risk of being banned when they do so. With the sharing of one's account comes the risk that any person the account is shared with could break rules listed elsewhere in this list. If the username and password to an account is found available anywhere on the internet, the account will be banned. We do not want people to abuse our services by sharing accounts to avoid payment. Due to the difficulty of punishing those who use shared accounts for their actions, the accounts will simply be banned from any further use.
2. No inappropriate content
The main target audience of this game is children, and this game must be acceptable by parents who wish to let their children use this game. There can be no nudity, sexual references or sexually-related material, or links to any sites with these. Inappropriate language is not allowed, if there are any questions of whether a username is acceptable, please send us a message at [email]. Any usernames that do not meet our expectations will be subject to change or the ban of the account in question.
3. No illegal activity
One must not partake in illegal activities on everybodyedits.com, and we will not take responsibility for any of these actions. If you are found to participate in any of these activities, your account will be banned without question.
4. No attacks on or abuse of other users
Each user is another person, and you do not know who they are or how they think or feel. You must consider the feelings of every person, and not harm them in any way. You cannot make fun of others, call them names, or sexually abuse them.
5. No crashing levels in anyway - resulting in players being forced out of levels by anything other than a kick, or freezing a computer, internet browser, or flash player.
If one crashes a level, the game experience is made worse for others playing, this will be taken seriously and those who crash risk having their account banned.
6. No copying levels
One must not copy block for block another level, be it by hand or computer program. Those who do risk having their account banned. Parodies are generally accepted but must be significantly different from the original.( I need to add more to this)
7. No inappropriate or abusive language in the chat.
As stated before, attacks on others are not tolerated and merit a ban. There is a censor system to prevent younger users from being exposed or harmed by this language. Avoiding the censors by slightly altering a word by adding or removing letters, or in other ways is not accepted and repeated violation may result in a ban.
This list is subject to change and it is you responsibility to check this list as much as possible. One may be punished for actions not listed here if the choices are deemed improper for the game.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This list is of course incomplete, and I believe it should either contain less complicated words, or specify that you should have a parent agree to the rules if you are under 18 years of age.
I will consider any recommendations or ideas for rules and add them to the list.

I completly support a fixed rule set, should be easy to read and easy to understand.
Well, I would rephrase one or two things but your suggestions look more than solid.
Keep up the good work.

Thank you for the feedback, I am somewhat low on time today as I have other things I should be doing, but after I add some more ideas, I am planning to completely re-write the proposed list and possibly send it to MrShoe, along with the reasons behind the creation of the list.
Wow, you should send this as an email to MrShoe when it is complete. These rules should be put up on the normal site and the beta site so players have some warning to what is acceptable in Everybody Edits. I think the EE community would really benefit from this because then there would be no more 'banned for no reason' topics created. Also before a player registers they should read the rules and then be able to register , so it gives them an indication of what the rules are and what is ok and not ok to do. I highly recommend you email MrShoe about this, if there is an update tomorrow, I will tell MrShoe to look at this topic through the blog.
I really hope these rules come into Everybody Edits, I really do.

I bet I know who your friend is!
Also instead of perma bans for everything, I think the less important rules should have something like the forum does (1 day ban, week ban, so on.) Shared accounts or crashing should be the only things that gives you a perma ban on the first time.
*edit* and inappropriate usernames.

I think that would be a great idea, though it may be more difficult to implement into the game.
Though I think inappropriate usernames should not receive a perma-ban as they can simply be forced into change by a moderator.

Looking back, everyone viewed a game full of 7-year-olds having no rules as normal.
Supported.

Most inappropriate usernames are created as alt accounts just to troll around with, that's why I said to perma ban them. I guess your way works to though.

These are some pretty good ideas. Someone should email MrShoe this thread?
There should be a ban for constant use of obscene and vulgar words (yes not all words are censored). Or at least a mute button.
Edit 1-But I support this.
Edit 2-Can you make the color a different one; that blue is hard on the eyes.

^what he said in Edit 2. Pick a color thats easier on the eyes, such as orange or light blue.

Yes, please. Also include the rules about copying.

So, @rules would, say, any blockage or subsitution of a single letter in an explicit word (e.g. "sh*t" or "sh-t" or "sh[exclamation point]t etc.) be a violation? Also, what about an abbreviation that would normally include an explicit word as well if put into actual words? (e.g. "wtf" or "omfg" etc.) How about putting a space between two letters in another explicit word? (e.g. "s h*t" or "s_h*t" or "s-h*t etc.)
All I have to say for now.

Swearing and passing the swear filters shouldn't be a bannable offence. Honestly I think there should be an option to disable the profanity filter.

Thanks so much for this!
I would have never made that topic if I'd known you'd post this.
I need to edit this later about some issues with these rules though.
EDIT:
1. Shared Accounts - I agree, if you're caught, (Meaning someone reports the email and password) then there's a permanent ban. You can share with a few friends, but the second someone catches the email and pass word and it gets reported, permanent ban. If you choose friends wisely and don't give it to masses of friends, this won't happen.
2. Inappropriate Content - This would require much opinions (What if someone drew someone wearing a swimsuit?) Soooo many things that would almost require a courthouse to determine if it's right to ban or not.
3. Illegal Activity - But, think of ALL the countries in EE. ALL the different laws! People of one country can't be expected to know the laws of all the countries.
4. Attacks on Other Users - Requires a courthouse again.
5. Crashing Levels - How are we going to catch them?
6. Copying Levels - Needs courthouse.
7. Inappropriate language - What if I affectionately called you a knob? And you understood, but someone else reported me? And some words need to be used that are censored, such as g ay and na zi (Not sure if it's still censored) I understand why they are censored, but someone could report me for using it the correct way.
And lastly, the parents approve thing - We used to have that for chat too right? It cost one cent? Well they took that away because they were accused for fraud or something. A better way needs to be found to find parent's permission.

I hate rules because all rules should be able to be summed up with "Don't be a [insert expletive]" (Or if you are more of a positive person, most rules can go with "Be respectful")
I've found that most mature people can handle that as a rule of life, as well as games.
Offline
The EE userbase isn't one to call mature, though.

Very good rules. They should add them somewhere.
You cannot make a name that is similar to a moderator's
You cannot make inappropriate art
You cannot abuse or make fun of other people
You cannot crash levels with a bot
To these i would mention you better change the word cannot into something like this:
You are not allowed to...
make a name that is similar to a moderator's ... etc etc..
Maybe it looks the same but the message of that is well different.
Actually i can make inappropriate art and i can abuse or make fun of other people... but i am not allowed to.
This was meant against you, i actually wanted to support you with that
I like this post, however I would request that this will hurry up and be completed!
