Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

I would email julian your opinion of the woots system.

I think he was talking about the magic system, and was making fun of the names of the top 10 worlds for woots and online.
For world sorting, Shuffle is best. Sort by woots and you have magic nubby levels at top, use sort by online and you have lots of guestbombed levels and magic levels at top, using plays puts older levels at top when newer levels can also be fun, so Shuffle is the only fair way to sort, I think.
But for on-topic, people seem to play for magic now, and not for fun as much.
But tbh nothing much has changed, only the levels that used to say boss to code or epic stairs are now saying level up here, in which you normally only get 3 up at a time as a posed to 20 and they actually have some use in levelling up.
So in my opinion woot to code is the lesser of 2 evils.
I still see good and "bad" levels in the top of the woot and online lists, which has always been the same for me concerning the online list.
I was actually discussing this lat night with my friend XD
Basically, I believe the first version of Everybody Edits was made just as an experiment. It wasn't anything to be considered to be taken seriously.
The community was small at first, but then all of a sudden there was big "BOOM" of players. Chris probably took this as the opportunity to try and make a little profit off this small little side project of this.
The community continued to grow steadily, and eventually Chris had to hire other moderators to help him with his work.
Eventually things got complicated, and a lot more complex. The first "huge" development for me was the shop. In the shop people could buy things using their energy, and eventually gems. Sometimes though the price of items was a bit overwhelming and so Chris introduced a magic coin system.
The magic coin system was introduced to help people earn more energy so they could get their items in the items shop. The magic system had to be taken away though, because even I will agree it was being greatly abused. People were using bots to get tons of magic to increase their maximum energy.
So with the fall of the first magic, then came the levels system. The levels system is a system for newbie players that grants them small bits of energy per level (up to a maximum of 400 energy). In retrospect this is actually a really good idea, because this way every is at a set limit for how much magic they can have, but once again Chris managed to ruin it.
He thought, why not use this system for other things like buying potions, or using certain smilies. This latter notion is absurd and should really be removed from the game. It is the reason for those kinds of levels. Think of is this way.
People want magic to unlock smilies, to get energy, and to get potions > Level owners hastily make fast and quick worlds with lots of coins > People play them because they want the magic > Users creates more of these levels to help give magic to others > And the process repeats itself
Chris thinks that what he has done is "helpful" to the game, but it is actually quite the opposite. Most new users, even with BC, would still be greatly overwhelmed, because BC does NOT give users all the smileys, and not being able to buy something just because you can't play all the time is hardly fair :/
Wait you can still earn energy? Nobody told me about this...
I'm guessing it's only for new players since you said 'newbies'.
As for the system, I don't like it either. It badly affects builders since it's harder for them to get their level noticed now that everyone just wants woots. But I think if you want to play good levels, then you can always check on the 'Rooms' sub forum.

This level system is messed up. There is no real point in it and it just makes ee worse. I'm basically just copying what the other people said but I just want to say that it really does makes ee worse.
^After reading through your posts, everyone of them seems to be complaining about the game.

The levels system was designed with a good intention. You are complaining, but not looking at the facts.
Yes, I do agree in some ways it has ruined the lobby, because in peoples haste to get magic non quality levels with lots of coins are the ones getting all the attention.
However, if you are a newbie player and your maximum energy count is under 400 then for each time you level up you can increase your energy (to a maximum of 400). You can also unlock potions and unlock smilies to have and use.
The problem is not so much that the system is flawed, because if EE were an RPG than the system would be working great. But it's not.
EE was created as a sandbox
A sandbox game is an open world type of video game level design concept where a player can freely roam a virtual world..
which really should have meant that the players get all the updates, for free, and the only purpose for the game being was to have fun.
So next time before you whine, at least do some research. You can complain all you want, but if you don't have evidence to back your claims then you don't have a valid argument.
