Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Re: Yet another community project [Contests]

NO COMMUNITY JUDGING PLEASE.   It defeats the purpose of judging when someone has already "judged" somebody.   Response to some of the previous statements: If you gonna get **** for losing and "know" you are going to lose, than don't join it in the first place.   Tiers is lame too, I mean why separate everybody?   If people lose, they will learn from their mistakes.   And all the "good" players have, for the most part, left.

We also need to come up with a subject for the contest.

RPG always made clear his preference over a Sci-Fi themed contest. Although he's off currently, I think it's a good idea.

And if those users have already bought a year?

An additional year would be added to their time

No clue what you're talking about. Community judging works fine:

1. New years contest:
judged 100% by the community.

2. Easter contest:
Mods judged, a few selected people from the community judged.

3. Halloween contest:
Huge group of the community and Rpgmaster2000 judged.

All the contests so far have had people from the community on the judging board. Why should this one be any different? We all know how badly the Halloween contest turned out before the community judging counted... Nobody wants a repeat of that.

My ideas[

Prizes - Similar to Halloween's

1st tier - 2 smileys, and a block
2nd tier - 2 smileys
3rd tier - 1 smiley

Rules
-Must be massive or great
-No stairs or smiley art
-Max of 5 people per team
-Can't be in multiple teams
-Must meet all deadlines
-insert other rules from past contests-

Judging
- Again I would like something similar to how the Halloween contest went. The people from the community that judge are also allowed to make a level, but they can't judge their own.
- Judges are selected from the older group of EE players, that way the ones picked know how level making work, and can judge fairly.

Classing
- I hate the idea of putting users into different classes. Not much else to say.

Theme
- Spirit temple/twinrova themed contest would be nice

that's all I can think of off the top of my head, I might update this post and make it suck less.

Re: Yet another community project [Contests]

@Legoking2000 What's so bad about community judging? NON-communit judging actually makes the contest bad, look at Halloween 2011 for an example... besides, you've never entered a contest before, so how would you know that it's so bad?

EDIT: Imo, I think anyone who's won over 2 contests already shouldn't be able to participate in the next contest, but be given the opportunity to be a judge, and maybe even be given a prize for judging!... as long as a Wild Benjaminsen doesn't jump out of a bush. ;|

Master1, I dislike the idea of themed contests too, but if I didn't put it down we would have had a massive argument on this topic. It's a way to make everyone happy, and you know MrShoe isn't going to add something that makes the majority sad.

Re: Yet another community project [Contests]

Well, I think he should choose an interesting holiday that we can all make levels on (ex. all the previous contests)... what other interesting holidays are left by now? Valentines, btu that's already over... Easter?! But they had one in 2011. Well, the most likely holiday-themed contest I see right now is Easter, even if it was already a contest theme.

This ^, because like I said before. I think it is nice that people are capable of making great levels, but with the past rules many of the same people have won multiple times, and will probably continue to do so.

Re: Yet another community project [Contests]

To piggyback of of Master1's good layout, I think that sprite art should also be excluded.   And teams should have to have at least two players (what is the point of a "team" if there is only one person in it; promotes the working together and having good relationships with others aspect).

Re: Yet another community project [Contests]

I don't understand how you can have best in game art. Wouldn't that just be judging the quality of the blocks that the EE Devs make?

You mustn't be familiar with the concept of "eyerape."
