Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Let's define mod

So what is the definition of mod?

Well a mod is a moderator. We usually call people like MrShoe, Mrvoid and Benjaminsen moderators. But should they really be called moderators?

A moderator is someone who moderates. Moderating. What is moderating?

verb (used with object)
8.
to reduce the excessiveness of; make less violent, severe, intense, or rigorous: to moderate the sharpness of one's words.
9.
to preside over or at (a public forum, meeting, discussion, etc.).

That's what dictionary.reference.com says. I think in this case, "to preside over at (a public forum, meeting, discussion, etc.)" is most accurate for what an EE moderator should do. But do our EE moderators even do that?

I wouldn't say that EE has any moderators. MrShoe, MrVoid and Benjaminsen are pretty much just developers. I guess I do see MrVoid appearing in random worlds, but he leaves quickly. And what makes this worse, is that there is no "Report" button. You have to email MrShoe or Chris. Most people don't think to do that so they can't report.

So my point is, we need actual mods who moderate the game, not just hold a title.

You're right! There SHOULD be a report button. If you really want to report people, however, e-mail MrShoe and add a proof. Not sure how seriously he would take you..

Re: Let's define mod

The solution: Don't play EE. Ever since RPGMaster2000 left the mods haven't cared about the players at all. This game has steadily gone downhill into the garbage it is today, and no matter how many rant topics, and no matter how much people try to change it, it will never change.

Not really worth the time at this point, plus MrShoe is a prick. I think he hates me or something, he always ignores me in game, deletes my posts on the blog, and never answers my emails. What a great guy.

MrVoid was in my level for like one hour 2 weeks ago Yn8I7.png

And I really agree with the report button, but they are probably too lazy to look at the reports.

I NEVER said I loved MrShoe, only that EE is probably most likely never going to change, and it's dumb of people to waste their time complaining.

Also, that EE is NOT a terrible game, because really it's not. It is only made bad because it's basically run by money, and if everything was free/unlimited then it really would be a great game. EE is a very unique, and very interesting concept with many action blocks that enable players to make cool levels. The only thing holding them back is the ability to get said blocks in a reasonable amount of time.

EE could be good, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. The mods are too greedy, and I've always thought that, and you just misinterpret and put words in my mouth, and think that just because I argue for EE means I like MrShoe. Well I don't like MrShoe, I never had, and probably never will. The only good mods really are Toby and RPGMaster2000.

First of all, if everything was free/unlimited there would probably be no EE. If they hadn't earned some money, they would not have been able to improve the game. I agree that the new money-sucking system (BC) is bad, and I prefer beta much more, but this is the situation right now and we have to deal with it.
Moreover, you actually DID seem to like MrShoe, since you kept protecting him, claiming that Chris is guilty. You changed your mind all of a sudden, as far as I know, right after you discovered the truth about the big-money-making Chris.

Re: Let's define mod

^ Because I have always said, you cannot bash EE's prices until you know Chris' monthly income. Though it probably isn't as much now, we can still assume he makes quite a bit. Then we have to compare the amount he makes compared to the amount it takes keep the server open, and then see how much he really makes as his net income.

Also I never said I liked MrShoe. You cannot blame MrShoe for the downfall of EE first of all, no one really knows his overall involvment besides posting on the blog. The reason I dislike him is not because of the current state of EE, but rather because deletes my blog posts, and ignores me and my emails.

If you want to blame anyone for the disarray of the game, then blame Chris. For all we know he could have a very high net income and just choose to charge so much for EE things because he can. We just don't know.

So yes, I do think in a sense he is greedy, but I cannot prove that I just think it. That is all I have ever said. If anyone disagrees with me, well they might not be wrong. Unless you know exactly just how much Chris is making compared to the amount he is spending it's hard to say.

Re: Let's define mod

There is no reason to complain about BC. Everyone seems to like to associate Beta and BC. Beta was removed. BC was added. There is no BC replaced Beta. Plus BC isn't even that bad; it can be pretty useful at times. The only bad thing about it is that it's overpriced. Why would you even care? It's not like BC is a necessity of your life, you don't have to buy it. Even more reason to ignore it is that you've always played EE without BC, so why can't you still play in the same way?

I really hate the way that people say that anything in this game that is priced is just another way to make money. WHAT DID YOU EXPECT IF IT HAS A PRICE ON IT? I guess what people are saying is that Chris overprices things to make more money. But the way business works is when more people buy something the price goes higher, if less people buy it then the price goes down. The amount of people who bought Big Spender just shows that people are loyal enough to be willing to pay a lot of money for just a smiley.

I did just do a couple of paragraphs on this but let's not derail this topic.

When did RPGMaster2000 leave? Didn't he just make the 2013 promo video, like a month or two ago?

I can't confirm when he left, I think it was around early 2011, he did make the promo video which I am happy about because atleast he is active, I checked his profile and he is magic class 5 so he must be active (even if it wasn't for long).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lets get back on topic:
A moderator is someone who maintains a certain forum, game or a various site of which people can visit,post and talk about. A moderator's job is to ensure that they maintain a happy and safe environment for everybody aswell as receiving opinions and future development ideas for there certain site, and provide constructive feedback aswell as other related matters
^That wasn't off a dictionary or something that's my definition of a moderator.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The current moderation of Everybody Edits is disappointing, the moderators do try and create a happy and interesting environment for players, which they have recently because of the updates such as potions and gravity worlds which can enhance the playing experience. However that is only 1 element of what it is to be a moderator, the other half is taking development points and ideas and reflecting on how the situation of the game is, which they don't do very well. You never see any moderators post on the forum announcements, they never go around levels and discuss ideas for future updates, the only time you see the mods are on Wednesdays, and they don't exactly 'Discuss further updates'. This Wednesday Mrvoid was in his world for 6 minutes then he left, not enough time to discuss everyone's ideas. People's ideas just get crammed into MrShoe's email box, which is a terrible way of getting your voice answered, and doesn't show a child friendly game exactly does it?

The moderators are good at creating updates and making money, but they certainly don't listen to the community and there ideas, which is a real shame because of all the topics created nowadays. But this will be just another post that the mods will ignore like everyone else's.

Re: Let's define mod

Yes, they are developers, not moderators. The reason of the misleading title is because that's what Chris originally called it with his "moderator mode" and it kind of stuck.

Having actual mods would be quite nice. Then we could put text in our worlds without having to bother Toby about it.

I really don't know why we don't have the ability to write text in our worlds, I mean can't you just make a filter system that does not show swear words?

Yes. Sadly said mods can just ban you for no reason too.

Re: Let's define mod

I'd agree. The mods on this game shouldn't be defined as moderators. Moterators are supposde to change things for a better and to make the game more inredible, but really the only thing that they've changed sicne MrShoe came along is change our point of view to soemthing negative. I love this game, and alot of other people love it,too. But the mods here don't take the palyers seriously and they don't listen, ESPECIALLY MrShoe. I just want a moderator that cares about how the palyers feel, not how much you cna profit from it. heck, if i was a mod I wouldn't even WANT to be paid, i just want to be able to give the players a voice for once. I'm pretty sure that all of this can be fiixed, but with MrShoe in power, it feels like this can go on until EE runs out of business.

Uh, secret mods? If they (still) exist. I know there was one person proven to be one, but I never really believed there to actually be many (if any). I think it was so Chris could scare us.
Anyways,

Not trying to be rude or anything, but, you realize that you're very mean and crude about things, right?

FailGirl101 wrote:

$5-$6K. BUT, before you say that's a lot, you must consider that EE was running well before all of this with the same income.

skullz16 wrote:

Maybe people say that because the exact moment BC was added, Beta was removed? And, I can't cite it, but I remember Shoe saying in the blog that he was replacing Beta for BC.

skullz16 wrote:

you don't have to buy it.

Well, considering they just added something players have been wanting for years now...

skullz16 wrote:

Okay, let's take this in. The costs for Builder's Club are more than a Club Penguin membership (without the sale), if I'm correct. Club Penguin is a 3D game, running thousands of players at once. EE is a 2D game, running up to 700 players at once. Come on, Club Penguin is run by Disney, the kings of cheapskates. Also, Beta was $10 and you'd keep it forever. If you spend $10 on BC, you get it for a month.

skullz16 wrote:

What reality are you from? The more people a game has, the more buying stuff. The more buying stuff, the less money you need for sufficient funds.

ShinyPorygon5 wrote:

He left awhile ago. Someone made a topic about him being back, surveying levels for the video. In it was a picture of him chatting with the post-er. He said he hadn't been on in so long, and was still getting used to everything.

So, back on-topic. I really never actually understood the term moderator until I was one on a Minecraft server. I used to believe it was just the underlying title of Admin. You know, Player < Moderator < Administrator. Well, a moderator REALLY is someone/thing that watches over what people say and/or do, and either reports inappropriate things that break the set rules to higher authority, or, if they have the power to do so, take matters into their own hands and punish the liable person. [[Wow. Fun, big words.]] Moderators usually do not have powers to do anything else, and only are the, for say, "police" of the internet. Now, Administrators usually have all abilities, including moderator abilities. Developers work to make the game a better place, and mostly get administrative powers, too. So, our 'moderators' are really developers.
