What is phishing?

You may have arrived at this topic, because I want to give you an idea of what's been happening lately.

What is this?

A person - maybe multiple - have been trying to scam accounts with a technique called 'Phishing'.

Phishing wrote:

The activity of defrauding an online account holder of financial information by posing as a legitimate company

It looks something like this:

They attempt to mislead you, and intend to steal your account.
Do not view these links, especially if you don't know who is sending them! They could very well be malicious.

What can I do?

To help prevent this, report the user to MrShoe ( /reportabuse <name> <reason> ), and tell your friends.

Help! I've fallen victim.

If you have visited these links, install an antivirus if you don't have one
(I recommend malwarebytes), if you have entered your personal information (even if you didn't press send!) change your password immediately, by using this:

Who is behind this?

Nobody definitely knows, although there are guesses. No worries, however, they will be dealt with.

Also, the report abuse command is /reportabuse <name> <reason>

Ah, alright thanks. I've made a bot join every room to give a notice, set it off a few hours ago.
I'll do it once tomorrow when the usercount peaks. I don't want to be a bother, so only while the events persist.

It should be noted that "/reportabuse <name>" does not work as of May 1st. You are required to input a reason. So, use "/reportabuse <name> <reason>".

By now, I'm going to assume the majority of EE will have acknowledged the scam.

You'd be surprised at how many people just come on for 5 minutes or so to spend energy + collect magic coins.

Could you possibly put a 30 minute warning loop on?

I'll do it for every 2-3 hours or so. If people tell their friends, that would be swell, too.

I've been telling people on Kongregate. You wouldn't believe the stupidity of some of them.

A lot of those guys don't know there's an official forum or website, so you're efforts are probably sadly being wasted. Am I allowed to shove two adverbs together like that?

Atilla, Malwarebytes don't do anything but remove malwares not viruses. I tested all posibilities to make sure that the Anti-Vi works. But it only got 4/10 of my test and that "4" is all malwares.

You can test it too.

Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware is a great combination for Windows users.
I'm halting this operation, as I see it isn't of much relevance anymore.

How about guest bombing a world, that has a message letting people know that it is a scam? People are bound to see it, no matter what time they log on.

If it happens again, I'll consider that. As for now, I don't see it happening, which is very good.
