Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

[Unofficial] Mod suggestions, complaints and questions

MODERATORS
---------------
bass5098 | Chewy | Different55 | EDJ | jakery

Want to be one?

Don't ask a current mod or administrator "Can I be a mod?!". That's like poking them with a stick repeatedly.

However, you can strengthen chances if you understand 3 things:
1) If your motivation is to be popular and powerful, forget it. If you want to service the forums and be helpful, this is the job for you.
2) Understand the rules like the back of your hand, and report all 'transgressors' you see, whether it be a signature too big or an accidental double-post.
3) Be a good forumer by going online at least once a week and reason in a mature way.

Suggestions

Understand that this is nothing official, and the admins / moderators will probably not use this as a reference. It's always interesting to know what the community thinks, and that's what it's for.

If you want to vote for someone that was added after you voted PM me or post here, and feel free to add a new option by entering it in the "other" category. Separate with commas if you have multiple suggestions.

Complaints / Solutions

Complaint #1: Mods are mostly inactive?
       Solution A: Get more mods.
Solution B: Request current mods to be more active.

Complaint #2: Mods are never online in my timezone. (Raids?!)
Solution A: Get more mods from a variety of timezones.
Solution B: The mods probably are online; just message them on IRC, messenger or other means to get them to clean up stoof. (BEE)

Complaint #3: Moderators might be overwhelmed with work, any way to make it easier?
Solution A: One moderator can take care of one area, the other one in one area, and so on, and forth, forth. (Garfield2436)

FAQ

Q: Why is other the most popular option?
A: "Other" submissions must be approved before they are added into the list. The "other" suggestions may build up when nobody is there to accept/deny them.

Q: It appears I can't access the results, what do I do?
A: Sign in or make an account.

Psh, I'm not going to add myself! Users can add options on the poll, go ahead and add me if you want.

You might need an account, but I'm not sure.

Add "supermen2" and "linus.21" to the suggestions of moderators list.

My complaints and suggestions
-There should be more moderators from different time zones so that they can take turns when one goes to sleep.
NEW - One moderator can take care of one area, the other one in one area, and so on, and forth, forth.
If I have more, I'll add it to the suggestions area on my post, I am still thinking...

Sounds good, I'll add it.

Re: [Unofficial] Mod suggestions, complaints and questions

So it appears other has the most votes right now.

I has a question:
Why is other the most popular option? Perhaps you should move some of the more popular "other" options into the set options slot, replacing people who haven't gotten any votes yet.

This is the most organized mod suggestion thing, though. I like it.

personally, you would make the best mod tako. what we need to do is have another mod election. 3 mods, 1 global and 2 section. you would make a great global mod.

Re: [Unofficial] Mod suggestions, complaints and questions

lol k.
Just gotta say, chances are, no one's going to become a mod due to popular demand.

And to be completely honest, even though everyone seems to doubt it, I think I'd be a pretty good mod. [First of all, I meet all of those reqs in the first post. ;D] I care a lot about the well-being of this forum and wish that the damn mods would put locked topics in the topic graveyard. I mean, for **** sake, someone was being a cam **** in general discussion and I told cyc about it and I had to point out to him that the description of general discussion involves EE and isn't the same thing as off-topic and the fact that we had several threads for camwhoring yourself out.

And, no offense, takoman, but your post count has nothing to do with how good of a mod you'd be. I personally don't think you'd be the right choice if we were to ever get more mods, nor Jad, nor Krazyman, nor Superdorf. Nou, Bee, MIHB, and mustang are all great and all probably have lives and better things to do then mod a forum, thus leaving Twipply as the only option and making your poll really suckish because no one in their right mind would make him a mod unless they really like chaos.
That being said, we probably haven't gotten another mod because no one is really suitable for the position at this moment in time.

I know. Just like mustang's Halloween contest thread, it's always good to hear what the community thinks.

I completely agree, post count has nothing to do with responsibility. Nor did I claim that at any point in time.

Just as a personality trait, I'm more of a leader than a follower. Like brawler has pointed out in some other post of his, great leaders don't necessarily have to show it until it's required.

Other than yourself, of course. :]

In terms of his account being in existence? Yes, it is.
In terms of being active? No, he's not as far as I'm concerned.

@BuzzerBee: Really? Because someone added a suggestion just yesterday night.

Re: [Unofficial] Mod suggestions, complaints and questions

I distinctly remember several people creating polls very similar to this, except they were shot down for pointlessness.

MINDF***:
The admins aren't going to pick mods based on some user-created poll, and I trust you're all smart enough to recognize that, so you're just advertising yourselves (thereby breaking the first rule that Tako put in place). Yay for logic!

Are you suggesting that I have no life?   Anyhow, how one earth would me being a mod be chaos!?   I'd be a super mod!   Although, the current set of rules are pretty moronic, so I'd be a little tempted to follow them to the letter to truly make the forum users aware of that (Telling the admins apparently isn't enough, as I've done that several times already.)

Let me fix that for you:
"The admins aren't gonna pick anyone because they don't do anything."
I agree, isn't it a shame?

I wouldn't mind Takoman02 as a moderator, but if Twipply was a moderator I think I'd just personally ask to be banned.

The poll won't work anyways because people are gonna be biased. I'd rather let the admins pick the new moderators, because at least that way we can be sure the new moderators aren't biased, nooby, or ignorant.

How do you know that the admins aren't equally or more bias than the regular users?
