default avatars

i remember once reading a thread about having a few default avatars for new users to use in case they dont want to get their own avatar, but cyclone said fluxbb wont let you do that. what this topic is for is for people to make a few avatars for anyone to use so we can have default avatars. give some new people a few avatars to use while they start. if you like the idea, gimme some 90x90 pics to use as avatars for the new people.

NOTE: these avatars are for anyone to use, but if you take someone elses avatar without asking them, people generally start to hate you.

to use it as your avatar, right click the image and click save image as. save it as whatever you want and then go to your profile. click on personality and select the box that says use avatar. after that it will either say upload avatar or change avatar. click that and browse for the file you want as your avatar, then let it upload.

but cyclone said fluxbb wont let you do that.

If he tried I bet he could mod FluxBB for this :/

I like this idea.

thanks. i guess this topic could help new people find an avatar. just make a few things and ill post them in the OP. id make some but i really suck at photoshop.

Regardless of whether Cyclone could make this or not, this is a good idea. But I am horrible at graphics. Maybe I could still try.

I think... that a way to do this, would be to set it so that the have avatar field in the users table is set to 1 by default when a user creates an account, and then it would generate a 404 error, so in the avatars folder, he could put an .htaccess file that sets ErrorDocument 404 /defaultavatar.png. Or a php script that prints an image by using the $_SERVER['HTTP_REFER'] and then using that URL to grab a name of that ID from the db and printing their name on top of the default avatar. I think it would need a fancy font and a imagettfstring(). Maybe use imagex() to center it if Cyclone feels like spending that much time on it.

something tells me public avatars are gonna be easier than making cyclone do all that work.

ok. start posting whatever you want for people to use. ill add a disclaimer in the OP so people dont just go stealing everybodys avatars.
