Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

A huge weight is off my shoulders.

Hello, everyone. I'm writing a quick post to explain my absence these past several months from the EE Forum.

I'm 27 years old and I have a full-time job as a web developer. A year ago I was handling small PHP-based projects and transitioning out of the Content Manager role. Then, in March 2011, my company started a massive new project: converting our entire corporate website from PHP to C#, implementing Sitecore CMS, and rebuilding our client-facing web apps in .NET C#. And my new boss must have had faith in me because he named me the Lead Developer on this new project, despite the fact that I was a beginner at both C# and .NET.

The first few months were easy; these were the initial planning stage and my workload was pretty normal. By September I was starting to feel the work pile up and I was starting to go a little nuts from thinking in code all day. The level of concentration was mentally exhausting. After work every day I would just come home and flop; watch some Netflix with the wife or just shut my eyes and rest. I stopped going to my usual websites, stopped EE and the Forum, and checked my email maybe once a week. I stopped checking Facebook and posting on Twitter altogether. Somewhere along the way I grew a beard. (yes, really) XD

By December I was working 10 hours a day every day, sometimes 12 hours every day. Our "do-or-die" deadline for initial development work was December 27. We were on schedule, but only because of the extra hours everyone was working. The month passed in the blink of an eye.

We finished a week ahead of schedule and my entire Christmas holiday was a blur. It's all over now. The deadline is met and the pressure is off. Now we're in the Testing phase where we polish our code, document our work, and fix bugs that the Unit Testers find. This kind of work is much less stressful.

I feel a bit weird jumping back in after being gone for so long but I'm glad to be back. I missed being here. //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/smile

I don't think I've met Jakery yet, so hello and welcome back. You must be a pretty good moderator to have so many people welcoming you back.

Uh, congratulations? I bet you feel accomplished, at least.

I bet the last thing you want to do right now is moderate a forum //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/tongue

Tell all your families some random person you've never met says, "hi". Or not. Probably not.

wb, Jakery.
