Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?
You are not logged in.
That would be a good companion to the other idea you had.

You need know mute adbot, we cannot prevent spam, we will not shut down bot.
.
If you can't control it, then you shouldn't use it. Sure, Emalton can kick people who are seemingly 'abusing' it, but it takes 2 mins to create a new account and spam all over again.
.
I don't see the usefullness of adbot anyways. If you want to share a room, there is the rooms forum. If you want to share the room in a chat log then use Kong.
.
Also, Adbot can and does enter worlds even when the owner is not in. So if the owner is not in no one can kick adbot. I shouldn't have to be forced to put up with some noob spambot, and I don't like to mute people, because I don't like it when people say bad things about me.
.
You can modify adbot all you want, but it's exactly what it's name implies, an annoying advertising bot that goes to peoples level and spams the chat. :l

Adbot is in RIGHT hands, we can do a command like !goto [world ID], to go to your world, to only who want adbot in the world.
"Right" hands. Some members who have access to it misuse the bot so badly, and especially with users who don't even know how to mute Adbot, it's extremely annoying. I still have the same ideas/thoughts as my old post.

Emalton shouldn't be afk, he need supervise to prevent someone spamming, or after broadcasting a time, need wait 20 seconds to broadcast again.
This is a false statement.

I like that 20 seconds rule, but spam every 20 seconds would still be annoying. There should be a rule that the bot can only be on if there's someone to supervise. Before Emalton goes afk, he should check whether someone is there to take his place (He can add some bot commands such as !kick for trusted players), and if there isn't anybody then the bot gets closed.

The idea is good, may the 20 seconds should be 50 seconds.

I'm sure if any of these suggestions will ever be done by Emalton... I definitely think it's in the 'wrong hands' I'm not sure if he know how to control it...
He is a good programmer, dont have better hands than that.

Just because someone can program doesn't mean that their creations are in the best possible hands.

EE has a /mute command for a reason, if you don't like the spam, just mute it. I personally don't see any problem with having the adbot around.

Some peoples want adbot shuted down, cannot simply mute. But atleast you dont have problems.

I still stand with my original opinion. I know what you are trying to say Creature, but I don't think EE needs adbot. If you want to share your room, go to the rooms topic. If you wanna share it in a chat, go on Kong.
The adbot should be a bot to send messages.

Why would adbot need to be shut down? It's not harming anybody in any way, and yes, we can simply mute. I'm not sure where you get the idea from that we can't.
People seriously need to stop complaining about it. Emalton obviously has his reasons for keeping it alive, and you guys don't need to start fussing about it just because you don't understand his reasoning. Like I said above, if the spam bothers you, mute it. Simple.

Yeah, for who dont know, put in chat: /mute adbot
Why adbot is important:
You can tell something new like: Contests, new bots, worlds.
You can send message to someone.
You can greetings.

You can... But the people using adbot dont. That was the whole point of my last posts.
I would be absolutely fine with it if it were like that (though messaging someone is stupid cuz really, you need to say it in every world just to send 1 message to 1 person?

Anyway, all that is happening with adbot now, are ads for worlds, which is the main and foremost reason i dislike it

Maybe need some updates like anti-spam system and forbidden worlds.

I find worlds more fun when there are lots of people there, so I like it when worlds are advertised live, rather than being posted on a forum. I don't think advertising them live on Kong is a good solution because not that many people use it, and the people who do use it might be too lazy to leave the world they're in and search for the world name. However, maybe the people who do go there would make it high enough in the lobby to get noticed. But still, I think AdBot has more advantages, just needs to be controlled a bit better. Also, like master1 said, you can just /mute, but I would rather it be more "filtered" so that the spam is reduced and it is mostly world advertisements.

I'm sorry that everyone has these negative opinions about me, and I especially apologize to Calicara for that rude kick. I'm not sure what was floating in my mind that day, for it was long ago. I had created a blacklist so the world owner can disable the bot in their worlds, and I have not even run the bot since last year. I do think that this is in the right hands, and because there are PMs, then there shouldn't be an issue. But seriously, if you dont like it, then mute it. Simple as that. I wish I was informed of this topic, so I could have brought some of the issues that are below. Thanks Reidolol for having my back btw
Let me address some issues and ideas:
I think Emalton should ban users from the bot who always spam the chat with it...
This has always been implemented in the AdBot, maybe I wasn't strict enough? I always kept logs and removed broadcasting rights from those who advertised worlds and spammed.
adbot was cool at first but now it's annoying
Sorry to hear that, if you had your AdBot dosage, then feel free to do /mute, or kick it if you are the owner. It wont come back.
Next thing you know immature children started spamming the chat via adbot either advertising levels or cursing each other. EE does not need a tool like that. That is what the forums are for -___
Not everyone knows that the forums are here. I also made a blacklist for those who spammed / advertise levels.
I think Adbot would be fine in the RIGHT hands. In the wrong hands it's just a spamfest. I still find, if it's for advertising worlds e.t.c it's wrong, but to call a meeting, or Congratulate everyone, or say happy birthday/anniversary to EE, or talk about news about updates e.t.c are fine, and would be awesome to have.
That is exactly the purpose of AdBot. It's not ment to be a spamfest, but stuff happens. I apoligize.
Well Emalton should work on his attitude issue. I don't think EE needs adbot to begin with, but he doesn't need to tell me to die just because I disagree with him. <snip>
If I remember correctly you were cussing me out, and insulting me? But besides the point, I didn't mean to bully you, I thought I was being attacked, so I reciprocated.
Oh definitely... the immature comments are totally unneeded. And I completely agree on the cyber bullying
I thought I was being attacked so I reciprocated. I now understand what I did was crossing the line, and it wont happen again.
Just by this topic he seems like a extremely conceited person.
That makes me really sad to hear, but people are entitled to their own opinions.
It's not in the right hands though. It's in the hands of someone immature who doesn't know how to properly control it. It's being used to flood the chat when it enters a world without the owner present (most worlds) and he needs to grow up because dying is not something that you can tell someone to do.
The owner any time could have opted out of having AdBot, so I can't really do anything if they are not there. I find it a little funny that people are taking my kicks so seriosuly though, but they shouldn't be taken seriously. AdBot has always been in the right hands, I always watched the log and made sure to blacklist people. But it's alot to manage for 1 person. But is it really that hard to do /mute AdBot? I've been working on the spam issues and there were be times that it will slip out, but it's gotten increasingly better.
The option is the adbot only come when world owner are in.
That's an excellent idea, would that resolve your problem Different55?
He is not someone who should have control of a bot capable of mass spam.
I think you are exaggerating alot, and it does not mass spam. Have a problem? /kick or /mute
Why are you saying "we"? You have no control over the situation. (For that matter, this entire discussion is pretty pointless. Emalton won't change or stop acting immaturely because some irritated people made a topic.) The only one who can say that they will or will not shut down the bot is Emalton. Spam is easily preventable. What it isn't is something that Emalton would do willingly.
Frankly what you said is extremely rude, and I wasn't notified of this topic. Reidolol has been feeding me ideas, so it is a "we". If you don't know, then don't assume. And I already make a user blacklist and a world blacklist. What more do you want? You can do /mute or kick.
.
If you can't control it, then you shouldn't use it. Sure, Emalton can kick people who are seemingly 'abusing' it, but it takes 2 mins to create a new account and spam all over again.

It looks like you found a hole in my system, if I ever do start AdBot again I will make sure that account is alteast a month old or something. It also isn't my problem that you don't like to mute stuff. The bot is a bot; it doesn't insult peopel. The bot does what the user wants: gets a message across EE. It's not like it says "Calicara is a nubcake" every 2 seconds. Feel free to opt-out if you are the owner, or use the scary "/mute" command.
Ok, what about popular worlds that are owned by people who no longer play ee? We have Featured worlds, which people just open on their own, and they shoot to the top of the lobby.
It looks like you found another hole. If I do revive it, do you suggest me making a vote to get rid of AdBot? I'm open to suggestions!
"Right" hands. Some members who have access to it misuse the bot so badly, and especially with users who don't even know how to mute Adbot, it's extremely annoying. I still have the same ideas/thoughts as my old post.
That's why I have a blacklist... And when AdBot first enters the world, it tells the users to do /mute AdBot. What you said is invalid, because AdBot does both of those things. All TecCrew Members can blacklist people from using the bot. I check the logs every night also. So if they get away with it for a day, they wont for the rest of their EE life.
I like that 20 seconds rule, but spam every 20 seconds would still be annoying. There should be a rule that the bot can only be on if there's someone to supervise. I like it too, and if I revive it it will be implimented.

It would have been nice if someone told me this topic existed. I'm open to new ideas. AdBot IS in the right hands.

My point, exactly. tldr: "If you don't like it, /mute it"
I would be absolutely fine with it if it were like that (though messaging someone is stupid cuz really, you need to say it in every world just to send 1 message to 1 person?
I was asked to have a world-link blocker, so it's been implemented. And it's handy to some. I also have a !sendto command, so it can find users and message them.
Tl;dr:
• Sorry for negative opinions, and for my rude kick-messages.
• If you don't like it opt-out and /mute ADBOT
