Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

@Calicara Well, guess what? This isn't a real competition. Boo-hoo, ooh... let me get that boo-boo for you. ); People are actually supposed to be good judges in this one, because it's made by people who have MOONS of time on their hands! I mean really, a "community" contest made to "save" a online game from inactive cash revenue? What the hell?
@"Superiors"
Also, everyone needs to stop "-"ing on all their posts, because you don't rule my base. :3

It can get annoying, and it really humps my bull. :\

It's a waste of time and memory space, and doesn't make you seem anymore "superior", it just makes you look like the big bad boy who called dog. *yawn!* ;p

Whether it is a competition on the forums of a dying game or a competition on the television, that doesn't give the judges the right to be incompetent, but the judges for this competition are not all cream of the crop EE players, they're not like the judges from Mustangs Halloween community contest judges, they are kind players who have donated their time to play and rate EE levels in order to promote quality level making. Just because they are a little slow to the chase doesn't mean everyone needs to freak out. How about instead of being condescending you wait patiently like the rest of us? Boo-hoo for you, the judges aren't the great, get over it.

The reason why I haven't posted week 2 results yet, is because I am still waiting on several judges who seem to be lazy. Buzzerbee, Anch159, ZeldaXD, and Raon... Hurry up nubs, these were due 2 days ago.

If someone would compile a list for me.... I would judge...Why would you not have to judge every level? ...
I don't remember typing that. Anyway, I WILL judge every level or at least try to. But it's hard to judge because I'm confused on this week's theme.
Lol DCLevels is right. I'm a terrible judge.
If you're confused about things, just read the posts. All the info is in this topic.

What the fudgemill? .__o Cream of the crop?! How is master1 not in the category of "mustang's halloween community"? He has tons of huge, popular levels. I think he might've even been a community judge! The first week worked out, but then everything just started to wax, shrivel away into a crevice of failure... and we're already on week 4, and not even week 2 resultz have been posted! RAR! ;#3

If you could demote inactive judges, the problem is solved, learn to do that if you dont want this tournament canceled.
This is a false statement.

@iPwner, It's not all the judges who are bad, just a few, but I can't say names without sounding like a prick, so I'll leave it at that.
Anch159 nagged to be a judge and now he isn't doing a thing...? Seems legit. It's the beginning of week four and week two scores haven't been released. And I'm still not understanding why the judges can't post the score and put a brief statement about why we got that score... They all complained because they didn't want to write a novel for each world... well you don't have to... a briefing on why and what could have been different would be good... this is turning into more of a mess than anything.... -.-

Well if the judges arent posting results why do you not just cancel the competition. Simple solution. Everyones happy.
I think there was simply not enough time. Maybe an extra week would've been better.
I present "Noobs Despair". I think it's pretty straightforward. Prepare for eyerape

Master1,if the judges just dont feel like posting...then maybe you should just judge by your self? Its a shame that the judges are ruining your awesome competition

Demoting inactive judges wouldn't solve anything, it would just give us fewer judges later on. This means as we get into round 5 or whatever, we would hardly have any judges, making the scores more inaccurate.

master1 , I havent been reading much of this topic, but zeldaxd just told me that worlds are not allowed to be judged by minis? what the crap! The only thing im good at is minis!Ill get 1/10 everytime if I dont get judged on minis...that both me and reidolol's best skill

You forgot about Minigames master1.
All the way back here, he said it matters about gameplay, not minigames. Read the whole gameplay thing again.
I don't give a crap if it matter for gameplay or not. I disagree with no adding minigames to the rating system. I'm sure we all here like more EX CREW ICE LEVEL than STAIRS TO CODE 111.
By the way, I'll submit my judgaments for both weeks soon.

How to explain this in terms you can understand... GAMEPLAY IS MINIGAMES, they are the same thing in this case. The way in which you play the level, based on the level concept, is what should be considered minigames. For example, when judging DCLevels slot level, you wouldn't give him a 0 because there are no traditional minis, you give him a score based on his concept, which was slots, and how that concept was illustrated through gameplay. So the mini would be the act of playing slots, and you would judge based on how fun and/or accurate the gameplay is based on how it is represented through simpler EE terms and your knowledge of how traditionally slots are played. DO YOU UNDERSTAND?

We lose points for submitting late. The judges should have to give US extra points for submitting late. Literally th only solution. Especially give me points for giving my brilliant idea.
this is my concept for the new judging system master1 is the cat and failgirl is the blanket. we could borrow a table from obama.

I think that your "view" is half right.Concept is good , the highest point of judgement in the competition in my opinion. BUT no traditional minis is something many levels lack.So many worlds have beaten every little "first-discovered minis" such as the well known hook jump.Art is good, but it needs something to keep a player going. If it were me...Id slightly deduct a score...but thats just me

But you can't base the minis solely of how one defines minis. I mean there is no real set way to make minigames, of course I'm sure there are methods to create minis with are more or less fun, but there isn't real a set in stone rule which states you have to make minis a certain way. Sure, you can argue that there are defined minis like hook jumps and tight fits and 'parkour', etc.... things which are consistently re-made by many users over and over. Yes, you can define those as minis, but they are overused, over done, and not at all original. Furthermore, they are rarely fun because there is nothing unique about them, and because they often seem out of place and don't blend well with the art.
-
That being said, though you can't really define a good mini based on whether you think it's a mini or not, you can base how good it is based on how much fun you had overcoming the challenge, and how that challenge relates to its surrounding environment. For example, in DCLevels slots he made a mini based on slots IRL, which in my opinion was ingenious, and quite fun. Of course, it's not the traditional style of jumping and running to overcome an obstacle, but that wasn't the concept of the level. The point was to emulate what a slot machine is, and that is what DCLevels does, and he does it quite successfully at that. Therefore I would not dock points simply because it was non-traditional, but rather give praise for it's well thought out system and unique style of presentation.
-
Minigames go hand in hand with gameplay, because if the mini games don't match up with the surrounding theme, they often feel out of place and not as fun. Now of course, there are levels in which the concepts is solely based on minigames and not art, but again that is its own individual concept, and should be judged not so much on what is 'traditional' but based on the given concept and how it was interpreted. Like my Neko Roulette, albeit simple and probably not the best way of re-creating Russian roulette, it does manage to display a concept and present a challenge in a different way from which most levels are played, therefore giving a low score for minis simply because they were not challenging or in the way they are usually played, is simply ridiculous, because if you judge based on the mini itself, alone, you are not taking in the other factors which went into creating that mini.
your last line "based on the mini itself" is definetly a fact.A world should not be judged on 1 mini, rather judged on gameplay itself.Yes dclevels mini was pretty good...but again...a world cannot be judged by one mini alone. If the whole world is one giant mini...then that's an exception.Unless you can come up with a really creative gameplay without good minis...I would just look at the minimap , woot if the art is good and hit go to lobby.Minis are one way levels can actually give ee a goal

Actually I know quite a few people who play EE purely for the social aspect of it, which in a way, can be a goal in itself (to make friends and have fun.) Nevertheless... if you are interested in solely completing levels, than I guess having a quality is the first step to completing your goal
