Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Wait I'm confused. What is the theme of the next level and when did it start? Did the results for first one already come out? I feel like you should have made this more clear because I totally missed that. I just now saw that someone had already made their round 2 level.
The theme for the second round was fortune, You have until, Saturday I believe?, To submit.
Let's start putting these round 2 worlds into a single post, since judging for them will begin Saturday.
Skullz16 & Sensei1
SmittyW
Jawapa & Superbowlboundraven
Chiscorey & Toxic
Kentiya
Theditor & Stagecrew
Itsmeandersonlol
Muftwin
Creature & Blizzard10

Calicara & Esox270

Not many guys, and the deadline is Saturday March 8th 12:00AM EST. Get to work please.
For those of you who missed Gka's comment, the round 2 theme is "Fortune"
-
Also to fix some confusion:
Round one results will be released when round 2 judging begins. This is because when Gkabyss made the schedule, he didn't remember to include time for judging.
-
IMPORTANT JUDGE INFORMATION:
Anch159, Addi, and Buzzerbee, if your scores are not in by the round 2 level due date, you will not be allowed to judge round 1.
-
Raon, I need your score for SmittyW's round 1 level. If I don't get it, the score chart will be completely messed up, and the only way to fix it would be to not count any of your scores.
-
Don't start judging anything on round 2 until Gka and I figure out a new judging system. A main problem with round 1, is that everyone judged their own way. We will be fixing this by issuing a judging method that every judge will have to use.

You have to demote them, if you demote, you will have less troubles with judges.
This is a false statement.

It's sad you like boxed minis because they're so easy to make.
Boxed minis are enslaved minis. Why not minis wide in the open?

Do boxed minis is WAY better. Hard to do doesn't mean quality at all.
By the way, is still my opinion and you should respet it if you want me to respet yours.

Box minis tend to restrict creativity of integration of art to the minis. Pretty much the art does not relate to minis in any way.

The reason I asked was because we mostly integrated our minis into the art, without the use of too many extra blocks (the industrial block which is invisible on the minimap). They weren't in boxes, or certain defined spaces either.
Also, doing minis out in the open doesn't necessarily make them better. You can't just call box minis enslaved minis, where slavery is considered completely unacceptable in this time, it just makes it sound worse than it is. There's nothing to do with freedom here, in fact boxed minis are often easier to make and can use space more efficiently. The advantage of doing minis in the open is that it feels more immersive with the story, but that doesn't mean boxed minis are of lower quality.
EDIT: @tak4n I agree but some people make it sound like it makes the minis themselves worse.

That's just in cases. Is still possible to do them good.

Just because you like something, doesn't mean it's good. I like My Little Pony, but it's not that great of a show. I like the Lego Movie, but it's not that great of a movie. You might like box minis, but that doesn't make them quality minis. Box minis are the scourge of EE because of their overused simplicity, especially things like 'Parkour' and level where it judges your rank as a player based on if you can complete a certain number of jumps at various difficulties. Such levels are nothing more than magic fodder, for people who want to get their level up. There is no creativity or much thinking involved.
-
That being said, it doesn't make them inherently bad, just of poor quality. A quality level integrates art and game play with a clear theme and interesting concept. Box minis fit in none of those categories.
Sorry guys for interrupting your beautiful discussion but here is our Fortune World, it is based in a coin system. You have 1 option to
win and 5 to lose...
The Story: You're threatened by a famous gangster, you have to pay some money for him to let you free. Actually the problem is that you don't have the enough money. So, the gangster, trying to give you an opportunity, took to you to 'Las Vegas'. In there you have to play a game called Smiley Roulette, the smiley is the ball! If you win, congrats! you're free!, but if you lose, you're free to rest in peace. If you win, there's a big chance for you!, you can escape with all the money, just try not to be regressed by... your despair and try to focus on the right choose or you'll have to start again...
How to play: Just choose 1 of 6 differents speeds, wait until you get all coins, pass a few minis, and good luck if you win or die. If you win, try to escape with the money, pay attention to the clues and traps.

@Tak4n
"Eyesore on the map"!? Yeah, you were missing something.it was a medium-sized world, so I made it ingame art. I actually spent alot of time making it look nice, but not too cluttered ingame, but if all you're going to judge is a tiny little box at the bottom-right corner of the level, then I don't know what to say to you. o_O So, I guess I'll say binatch salad! :3
EDIT: The theme is you're escaping the desert and going into sparta. The whole bottom section of the level is desert.

Also I probably will not be online much for the rest of tonight, and will not be online for most of tomorrow.
I totally lost track of all the worlds to review. Can someone compile a lsit for me? For the roulette thing I saw toxic and chiscorey's world (even though it wasn't posted) and calicara's world. So I'll just review those first.

Not much to say here besides the cat in the bottom right is good (will add extra points, although I have no idea why the cat is there). The minis aren't very good because it is very luck based.
Umm yea.. that's kind of the point. You have to be fortunate. Why do minis have to be straightforward, why can't they be based on luck and chance? As long as it's intentional I don't see why that's problem.

Well I'll see what the other peoples' worlds are. I'm not sure if Toxic & Chiscorey's world is just really good compared to the rest that will be created, or yours is just bad. It's probably that their world is really good.

So just because Toxic and Chiscorey make nice levels, means you're gonna judge by comparing to them? I'm not trying to be mean, nor am I in a position to judge, but let me point out a few things about Toxic and Chiscoreys map that you seemed to overlook.
-
The roulette circle looks more like an octagon, and it also looks to have a bad case of pillow shading. The other bits of art have little contrast, except for the clover, which makes the edges of the map very ambiguous. In game, thankfully, the blocks are not as eyerapey as before, but it's still a little hard to see what I'm doing, because there is just way too much going on at once as far the the background block textures and decorations.
-
This is not to say Toxic and Chiscoreys map is bad, because it's not, the mini-map art is fantastic compared to other players, but there is more to art than mini-map art, and it **** me off when that's all you judges care about.
-
So fine, you can give me a low score, but you can't say my map is bad just because Toxic and Chiscoreys is good, what is even your basis for good? If you're just judging by 'the norm' such as 'nice mini-map art', and 'minis that aren't' box minis', than you are failing to see the whole picture. Are Megalambs animated great worlds bad because there are no minis and just art? Are Master1's music levels bad because there is just music and no minis? You have to think about the concept of that world you are in, and how it relates to the overarching theme. Just because my level doesn't have 'the norm' for minis, doesn't mean I deserve a 2/10. The theme was Fortune, and I chose Russian Roulette, and if you took two seconds of your day to google how the game is played, you would understand my choice of gameplay. No, it's not hard, no it's not the usual, but isn't that the point of EEC? To create new and unusual things? And sure, my concept may be lacking, but I have a very small space to work with. If I had more space I'd create a better system, but I don't, so I do the best I can.
-
I think this competition needs new judges or a better judging system.

@Calicara it's ironic that you made that whole post complaining that judges judge levels by a certain aspect of the level and then finish of judging all the current judges by a comment a single one of us made. You're no better On the other note m1 is making a judging system for everyone so hold your horses before you jump into any conclusions.

Well it was mainly directed toward Anch159, though I was also upset at how Raon gave Toxic and Chiscorey a 10/10 for their desert level. I'm not trying to single Toxic and Chiscorey (Sorry!), but as an artist myself, though I realize my art is not perfect either, I just hate how there is always this assumption "More realistic = Better". It's not always the case, and it's a bad assumption to make. For EE's sake, I suppose a better comparison is "As long as the mini-map art looks ok, who cares if the in game art is eyerape." At least, that's the feeling I'm getting. EE never had this problem in the past, because all the blocks we used to have had little texture, and decorations and background weren't a thing. Now that we have them, I think people should be more aware of how they can be used to integrate in game playability as well as making the minimap look nice. You can't just have one or the other, the most successful level combines to two to make a level that is aesthetically pleasing.
-
Also, excuse my lack of talk of minigames, as they are not my strong point, but I also do believe minigames should have variability such as game play. Therefore, I don't see why I should only be judged based on what is 'the norm'. Lots of people enjoy luck and chance games, because you can't control if you win or lose, so when you do win it's all the more thrilling.

I agree. I like going with a cartoon-style art, though I wish I could improve my skills at it. I honesty think that cartoon-style characters can end up better-looking than people in real life.
