I disagree, voting is used to solve problems everywhere around the world. It is not a popularity contest, and should never be seen as a popularity contest. If you are a person who only votes for your friends/popular people/whatever, then you shouldn't be voting in the first place.

It is a viable way of measuring responsibility and maturity -> who would vote for somebody that isn't responsible and/or mature enough to handle the task? Nobody. It may not be the best way of measuring it, but it is one way of doing it. This also brings me to my final point.

When I first heard about the update, I felt like it would be a disaster. After actually taking some time to think about it, I have come to the conclusion that ANYBODY can be fit for the job. It doesn't matter if they are well liked or not, or how responsible or mature they seem. When it comes down to it, nobody wants to upset the admins. People will change how they act if they have to. Everyone is capable of acting responsible or mature. It is however, their choice when they want to act that way. That being said, I believe that whoever gets it will do a fantastic job.

This is the biggest load of ... I have ever seen, and is exactly why this voting system fails. A guardian shouldn't be a popular player that everyone knows, and now that they have power should start to be responsible. You shouldn't have to "change" how you act because now you are in a position of authority, you should have already acted that way in the first place. If you have to change how you act, you don't deserve the position.
A guardian should be a silent hero, someone who has been previously helping others with no reward. I want whoever becomes a guardian to do whats right and responsible when no one is looking, not just when they get into the spotlight. And based on what I have observed over the past few days, NOBODY deserve to be guardian.

I guess you completely misread what I said.
- Where did I say they had to be popular?
- I never said you SHOULD change how you act, I merely mentioned that everyone is capable of doing so.
- People change how they act all the time, mainly during age progression. I am sure that you don't act how you did 5 years ago. On that note, I'm sure nobody acts how they did 5 years ago.
- Everyone deserves to be a guardian, some more so than others, but everyone would do a great job at it.
No, I don't see this topic as a popularity contest, as there are several people way more popular than myself not on that list. I do however think that blockzoid is creating extra accounts to vote for himself, as everyone who has voted for him (with the exception of alex) has less than 3 forum posts, and was created within 24 hours of the post.
Like I said earlier, if you feel the need to vote someone for the sole purpose of them being your friend, or popular you need to not vote at all.

Considering that people were making forum accounts for the sake of voting (for the same person), I think this vote has gone beyond a legitimate form of making a decision
