Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

i vote blockzoid, simply simple
Yeahhhh we probably shouldn't have a bunch of kids/teenagers vote for something like this. It will inevitably be a popularity contest.

^ popularity contest: it's happening. disgusting.
Brian has already asked me who I think should be guardians. He said he doesn't know the player base very well and has no idea who would fit the position. He also said he doesn't want to send a 15 year old on a power trip. By no means does that mean that the names I suggest to him are going to become a guardian, but there is a good possibility they will.
--
I think the guardians need to have a higher popularity. People need to recognize who they are.

anyway, I vote for KOTO.

considering the lesser community has already leaked into this vote, it's over.

Not trying to use a derogatory tone towards you here, but you have no right picking the candidates for the Guardian position, as that would be based on personal preference, whom of which would be biased. This process would become a lot easier if the mods KNEW the community, but as there mind-set is on $$$ (except for Brian) this is becoming a difficult process. My recommendation is to wait for the blog post, and then we will see.

tbh i think the best thing to do is accept applications and decide using those. this vote is a failure
I'm sorry that this is a little off topic, please forgive me. I just couldn't stand back and watch anymore.
This entire "vote" is an epic fail. It is unorganized, unreliable, biased, and just plain **** (please excuse my language). This should be a private vote/nomination, where people can vote/nominate anyone they like without upsetting other players, or fearing they they will be criticized because of what they believe.
Because of this poor design, a lot of harsh things were said to one another and now one of my dear friends is banned. And the one to ultimately be blamed is Meredith(and other mods), for starting this chaos on the forums.
Now, throughout this giant Guardian mess, I've observed some quite disturbing things. For starters, I cannot tell you how many rooms I've visited ingame with players begging other players to vote for them to be guardian, then spamming the link to this page over and over. I even saw one room offering edit rights to anyone who voted. Anyone saying that this is a fair vote, please PM me, Id love to hear what arguments you come up with...
Second, Id like to take a second to laugh at all the ridiculous arguments posted by the nominees stating this isn't a popularity contest. Please remove whatever is blinding you from the truth, this is clearly a popularity contest.
Finally, I would like to respond to Master1.
I disagree, voting is used to solve problems everywhere around the world. It is not a popularity contest, and should never be seen as a popularity contest. If you are a person who only votes for your friends/popular people/whatever, then you shouldn't be voting in the first place.
It is a viable way of measuring responsibility and maturity -> who would vote for somebody that isn't responsible and/or mature enough to handle the task? Nobody. It may not be the best way of measuring it, but it is one way of doing it. This also brings me to my final point.
When I first heard about the update, I felt like it would be a disaster. After actually taking some time to think about it, I have come to the conclusion that ANYBODY can be fit for the job. It doesn't matter if they are well liked or not, or how responsible or mature they seem. When it comes down to it, nobody wants to upset the admins. People will change how they act if they have to. Everyone is capable of acting responsible or mature. It is however, their choice when they want to act that way. That being said, I believe that whoever gets it will do a fantastic job.
This is the biggest load of ... I have ever seen, and is exactly why this voting system fails. A guardian shouldn't be a popular player that everyone knows, and now that they have power should start to be responsible. You shouldn't have to "change" how you act because now you are in a position of authority, you should have already acted that way in the first place. If you have to change how you act, you don't deserve the position.
A guardian should be a silent hero, someone who has been previously helping others with no reward. I want whoever becomes a guardian to do whats right and responsible when no one is looking, not just when they get into the spotlight. And based on what I have observed over the past few days, NOBODY deserve to be guardian.
I'm not going to quote you Kyle because of your long post, but at what point was the meant to be official, I only asked for people's opinion for my own benefit.
In what twisted relm is this chaos, even if you did think this was chaos no one is forcing you to come to these unofficial forums.
I inferred from your post that the ban you disagreed with was Ipwner, it was not just this thread that caused him to be banned but his own failure to act upon many warnings and week bans. He littered the forum with random off topic and spammy posts that I deemed the forum could do with out. If you disagree that strongly go setup your own forum or visit one of the other forums.
As regular Everybody Edits users, all we can do is purpose reasonable candidates to be a Guardian, we know this news is valid, but cannot enforce this. We should wait for clear, concise information via the blog, before we make assumptions on who would make a good Guardian.

@Alex - My picks are not definite. Brian had said he was blind when it comes to knowing players, and had asked me who I thought would good on the position. I had given him 4 names, and only one of them is a friend on EE. I don't feel that it is biased.
I agree with @Kyle. Voting is a terrible idea for picking someone to help run a game. So is sending in applications. You can't get an understanding on how someone acts by reading an application they send in. We would end up with random noobs running the game.
@KOTO - Because people think this is actually going somewhere. Nothing is being touched on it until after August 4th. After that the plan is still unclear because they don't want flooded with 1000 emails because of someone they picked. They also need to work out a plan to prevent to much abuse from players that become guardians.

I hope whoever can help Brian choosing the guardians won't use this thread as a reference. As many people said, this "vote" is a "joke": look at the ones begging for votes, look at the others creating an account just to vote for a random person and for whatever reason.
Even if some take this "vote" too seriously, you have to admit that there is a real threat with guardians: you can't definitively let someone as irresponsible as "Blockzoid" being one. (I don't know you personally "Blockzoid", but for the small I have seen in this thread, I really hope you won't have any kind of power.)
And, no. People won't change and start being more responsible if guardians. An opposite change is more probable: see Meredith. (No offense, but you sometime intervene in world where you should stay neutral. it's not a big thing, it won't change anything really, but still.)

applications, just like every other moderation job (not this one)
Regardless.... If the Guardian abuses their abilities, the community won't fret to report them and document their actions. Which would most likely not only lead to removal of their Guardian abilities but also (Depending on their actions) be banned from ee. So long story short... This isn't a absolute permanent thing that we will live with for 4 years like a president.

Good, that leaves some backdoors for a coup d'état. Who's in? \o/
More seriously, a sanction would be a perfect way to keep guardians from doing crap. But on the other side: see the previous sentence ^^^.
