Community Friend Chat

So with the whole chat fiasco, most/some of us are out of luck in getting chat now. Friends can chat though, right? What if we all simply added each other as friends for this "forum/community" chat group, where we can all interact, and will all self moderate.

For now, this is just a rough concept and we need to nail out the details, but I think this would be a nice way to keep us together while we play. Thoughts or ideas anyone?

Also: JaWapa Approved!

Since I know none of you will know who I am, I joined some time back in 2010, I believe. Before the first Christmas update at least. I was a member of beta, but never bought builders club. I quit around the time that the devs "died," but now I'm back, and seeing as I never was big on the forums and I think we deserve a way to communicate in game, this would be a great way to have newer members communicate with everyone.

Dare I say, what do you mean? I really hated those levels anyways. Did I word something badly? I don't see how having a chat where forum members would talk would lead to that. It's not like you'd even be in any of those worlds anyways, right? This would actually alienate anyone who we wouldn't want chatting.

I'm not making these claims without evidence first!
When chat was free, this was literally what happened.
At your other words, these chat based worlds instead of gameplay based discourage new gameplay oriented levels, and encourage more poorly made social levels.
This lead to there being no choice but to join one of these levels or don't play at all!
But it's not like i was in those levels anyways, that would be awful

Fdoou, you shouldn't care with RPG and hotel worlds, everyone has their interess, they deserve to have ability to chat with everyone without having to pay.

How will this chat thing work?

We'd all have to securely share emails with each other and then just add everyone else in the group. Since everyone is friends with everyone else in the group, we can all chat with each other as if we had paid for it. If anyone breaks whatever rules we set up about it, then we simply all remove them from our lists.

You make a point, but its not like every user and their mom will be in the chat. Only people who use the forums and have decided to join our group. If some noob comes along and starts spamming at us to join his Super Hotel No Gameplay RPG Adventure then we just unfriend him.

How finite? I didn't remember there being any limit, if there was one. I really didn't use the feature much anyways. And we'd all have everyone else added, so if there were 3 people, Person A would have both B and C as friends, and B would be friends with A and C, and so on. If the limit is like, 100 friends I don't see any problem. It's not like there are that many people here.

There's no problem in liking it, i don't really stay in a RPG so much, but i like chatting and planning new things with my friends, now that the chat is gone, things are going sadly.

Well if that's true, then this is all a flop. Can anyone verify? I checked all of the blog posts about it and didn't see any limit.

Btw, max amount of friends is 20 (40 for BC) - this idea is flawed just use a chatroom IRC/tinychat.

How about someone (good at it) makes a simple chat bot that can be downloaded. The user who made the bot makes a thread here and everyone has to register in the thread their EE name and the bot creator or the bot makes a unique password for each user giving them access to join or in case of abuse might be banned or something like that. In order to join the room you just have to use the ID room and your unique password (no e-mail or EE password needed).   Is this possible?
Or an easier way is to nicely ask Meredith to insert a chat room on this forum and help her advertise the forum, therfore more users here and free chat, it would help both the forum and those users without chat. It takes minutes to insert a BBCode chatroom.

You can put in your EE login details and join the lobby through the bot and the bot will collect the username - people don't need to register they just use their normal login details.

free chat > stairs and ez minis die > hotels and rpgs get popular > they get more popular >
BR levels become popular > lobby is utter crap > less than one good world at a time > let alone a world that has gameplay > unlocked worlds get kinda popular but not that much > free chat removed > praise the lord
