"Anniversaire" and "anniversary" are kind of false friends. They do share the definition of being the day of a year in which an event happened in a past year, so it always works English to French, but anniversary doesn't specifically mean "birthday" in English. "Anniversary of my birth" would be correct, but sounds very stilted. "Birthday" is definitely the word you want to use.

You were thinking "date of birth (DOB)" which specifically refers to the exact date/year of birth.
