a save point is an item a world owner can place in their worlds.
When activated, you will keep whatever purple switches you've hit (and current position) but not coins. It also acts like a regular checkpoint.
These items are owner only and should probably cost 250(ish) each.
If resetting is moved from a block to a menu option, this would be good, as resetting should remove your save.
If they're released, some could be added to campaign worlds. (Like, at the first coin in all linear coin-dependant worlds)

because while switches have a cap coins don't, and it needs to track invididually which coins you collected. I just think it'd be a strain on the server.

Yeah if you can find idea in forums then we can also find them. Re-suggesting doesn't help.
I once checked all the ideas in this forum, even those from benjaminsen time. (took few days)
It might be a bit more reasonable if this were posted a while ago, but since the original topic was active only a few months ago, many people (especially the staff) still have the idea in mind. If you want to revive this idea, then posting on the original topic is a better option than just creating more duplicate suggestions to dig through.

What about campaigns? Also, if thats not enough, I imagine the data stored could be limited through time limits (automatically getting deleted after X time), individual player limits (not being able to create new saves once you have X saves), or some combination of the two. I think neither of us have much knowledge about how much data the actual game can handle, so we are basically just speculating. While it may help to be concerned about server storage, I think we would need the knowledge from an actual game developer before coming to a conclusion on this.
