what do you think makes a good username?

here's my small list:

  • can be used on any forum and doesn't invoke copyright or a trademark (i.e. Onjit, not Minecraftftwbro)

  • doesn't try to invoke attention like a tryhard (e.g. Laderw, not XXx=~LaDeRW~=xXX

  • pronouncable and actually makes sense (e.g. Zumza, not Zmruptjqt)

  • won't possibly regret it in the future (e.g. not IlovememeslolXDtherecool)

  • It should be easy to remember

  • It should be not easily mistaken with a word(e.g. My autocorrection tends to put Ingot instead of Onjit)

  • And probably the most important thing is that it should represent you.

If your name contains 2+ words , you need to place them right .
Because my real name is gosha, 2nd word is noob. So it is Gosha Noob
But people can't understand it
I saw so many variants of writing my name
Like; goshan oob, gosh a noob , go shan oob, goshano ob etc

Meh, I actually like my username. It's an actual word, so it doesn't sound weird. Original or not.

When I come with an original name it sounds weirder and weirder later.

i'd also have to say no fandom references/memes because they're likely to be used by different people
I guess it kind of depends if you want people to recognize you site to site
something that's not likely to be mistaken for something else ala penisland (pen island)

What does 2070 even mean? I tried to think of the meaning myself but all I could think of was the year you'll probably die, which is a cool idea, but also kind of dark.

on topic: Something you can identify with. If your name is Mylittleponyfan and you don't like my little pony you should probably choose a better name.

Only thing that stands out is, BE ORIGINAL.  ffs.

If you're name contains: ninja, editor, noob, master (m1 excluded), anything related to minecraft/pokemon... you failed... hard.

Names like Thanel, Hexgon, Octane... they have a sharp sound, and they are easy to remember, I like those.

posting once more, but i believe the easiest to remember usernames are the ones that don't need much energy to pronounce

for example, saying xicoatlax not only twists your tongue, but you won't feel like saying it

something like, eughuaghuga, is not only easy, but even people on the verge of death mutter this name
it's blessed, obviously

I like names that have multiple meanings i.e. itsmeandersonlol = its me anderson lol, or its me and her son lol, or its mean derson lol, or its meander son lol, or it smea n der son lol, or its me ander son lol, or i tsm ean derso nl ol, or its me and erson lol....

Best way to have pancakes and also the shortest name I liked that Steam allowed.


Names that tell a story BlackDawn, also <colour><noun> produces an alright name generally.

Or random stuff, take a word from this next section of text which is not a language but every word is pronouncable and some neat words lay within - the username can have mystery

Methinks the general (and possibly implied) goal of this thread was to determine patterns, or rules, that can be applied to the creation of a username.

insofar, I haven't met an example name paired not with its example rule.
