Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Guess who just moved into college today?

Lots of people, probably, but namely me.

Woah did you really???? //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/tongue

I moved in on Sunday, even though the official move in day was wednesday. I thought it would be a good idea for some reason. Like zoey said, mostly mixed feelings. Meeting new people is fun, but at this point it feels more like a summer camp with all the welcome week crap we have to do.

Is this thread going to turn into another Zoey-and-Pyro-discuss-their-college area?

Don't feel bad if you make the decision to drop out of college, college learning environments aren't for everyone. But, I would advocate to stick through it if you have the means to do so, because college degrees help you get jobs and in general are nice documents to have.

Have you started classes?
Just wait a week or two dog, **** always gets better after time. But whatever.

I've still got orientation stuff. Can't wait for classes to start so I can meet, like, interesting people. None of the people on my floor seem cool. I mean, they're "cool" cool, but they're not cool. Not my type.

I completely 100000% agree with this. Welcome week is so boring. I want to do what I came here to do, not summer camp type activities.

Re: Guess who just moved into college today?

I know exactly how all of you feel. My freshman year was crap. I hated welcome weekend, and my roommate was an ultra-christian. (Let's just say we didn't get along too well.)

But I am so glad I stuck through it. I have made many very good friends who I will remember for the rest of my life, and I wouldn't trade my experiences for the world. It's also perfectly ok to hate other freshman. Most of them tend to be like cattle-witted dimwits. It took me at least 2 1/2 years to really find my place and figure out what I want. But I'm ok with that.

Well its good to know that it gets better. I haven't HATED it, but an entire week of doing nothing but "meeting people" can get a little dull :s

Re: Guess who just moved into college today?

I remember my first roommate with great loathing. That same semester my cat passed away while I was at school, and when she did I was in my dorm crying. My roommate was watching TV. She looked at me for minute, then looked back at the TV. At that moment I was like yea, forget you inappropriate word.

Nah, but, once you figure out your major that's usually where you'll find your real friends. Or even if you don't, at least you'll get a decent college education. ^^

My sister moved to college this week too. I'm only a year younger, so I forget we aren't the same age. It's sorta anxiety inducing.

Does the college experience with or without a roommate change a lot?

I wanted a single tbh lol. I've only been here a week but I barely talk to my roommate, he's always doing music theory on his computer...

Re: Guess who just moved into college today?

@Spinastar: The roommate experience varies. I find, if you're lucky enough to find a person whom you can live with, (and there is a huge difference between your best friend and person you probably want to live with!), then having a roommate can be quite beneficial.

For example, my roommate and I take turns cleaning, and we remind each other of certain events so we don't miss them. My roommate also looks out for me when I've had a bit too much to drink, and I would likewise do the same for her.

But you don't want to live your best friend, because I feel it ends up being too distracting. As I like my roommate just fine, my best friend lives elsewhere on campus. If we were to live together I think we would be too distracting talking and wanting to hang out all the time.

Though if you really can't stand the thought of interacting with others you can get a single (or be an RA), though I recommend against a single (at least for your freshman/sophomore year). Even if you don't necessarily like your roommate it's good to learn how to interact with people in a more intimate way. Like I don't like all the things my roommate does, and I know my roommate doesn't like all the things I do (especially when I stink up the room with sweaty gym shirts), but we learn to coexist as roommates.

Which I think is one of the biggest benefits of college in general, learning how to interact with people even when we don't necessarily like all the things they do. It's better to learn to be able to speak up for change and coexistence, then stay silent and suffer. It's corny but true //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/tongue
